Di te è stato detto che eri “angelicamente anarchico”, di Gandhi che era un “anarchico gentile”, entrambi “anarchici nonviolenti”.

Tu stesso hai detto “arrivai a vedere per la prima volta che la dottrina cristiana dell’amore, operante attraverso il metodo gandhiano della nonviolenza, è una delle armi più potenti a disposizione di un popolo oppresso nella sua lotta per la libertà” e con un esplicito riferimento al Vangelo: “il mio pensiero, consciamente o inconsciamente, veniva riportato al Discorso della Montagna e al metodo gandhiano della resistenza nonviolenta: questo principio divenne la luce che guidava il nostro movimento. Cristo forniva lo spirito e i motivi, Gandhi forniva il metodo”.

E il tuo grande amico Moni Ovadia con la sua acuta e profonda saggezza, una volta ti fece notare: “Ce l’hai presente qualche foto di Gandhi? Gesù era ebreo-palestinese e, secondo me, assomigliava proprio a Gandhi”.

Se il grande artista Anish Kapoor ti avesse conosciuto, avrebbe potuto dire di te quel che disse di Gandhi: “Mi ispiro al Mahatma Gandhi. Che fu capace di cambiare così profondamente se stesso da trasformarsi nell’ atto politico in cui credeva. A partire dai vestiti che indossava, il cibo che mangiava, la sua sessualità. A ogni azione un significato mitologico. Ogni parte di sé un’ opera. Ecco: è lui il più grande artista della storia”.

Anche tu hai saputo trasformarti e parlare alla gente comune, ai più poveri e diseredati, abbandonati e bistrattati, con il linguaggo semplice, diretto, poetico della nonviolenza gandhiana: sei stato poeta e artista della comunicazione nonviolenta.

Continuerai a essere con noi nella “compresenza dei morti e dei viventi” che l’altro grande amico e persuaso della nonviolenza italiano, Aldo Capitini, immaginava come una concezione di unità cosmica nello spazio e nel tempo, che ci unisce tutti, esseri viventi e non viventi, umani e non umani, nella grandiosa, misteriosa e profondissima avventura cosmica di cui siamo piccolissime particelle e che un altro grande del pensiero nonviolento, Raimon Panikkar, ha chiamato concezione “cosmoteandrica”.
