Dear participant,

     A most cordial welcome to you! Thanks for joining in this effort to contribute to a higher level of work for peace. And please think of yourself as a participant who together with the instructors, as resource persons, try to shape ever better courses. Do not think of TPU as a school for students ready to be processed.

     I often think of ourselves as doing a job similar to those, one, even two centuries ago, who started approaching illness in a new way. They talked a lot about prevention. About hygiene. And above all about what people could do themselves. Try to avoid humidity and excessive cold and heat; certain micro-organisms thrive under such conditions. Wash your hands and so on and so forth. Simple things. They did not give us eternal life, but maybe 25 years more. And, if we are careful about what goes in and out of the openings of the body and move, use our body then we live more healthy lives. For our mind, our spirit to grow.

     Do similar things for violence, and we can all live more peaceful lives. Our task is to explore what to do, how to do it, when and where. By whom? Above all by you, dear participant. Our task is to help enabling you. For whom? well, there is a humanity out there badly in need of more dedication and more professionalism about peace.

    Right now the clouds are dark, very dark. They have been before. We shall not only prepare for better days, for the warmth of sunshine. We shall contribute to making it happen with our knowledge and skills.
