Birthday Greetings

POETRY FORMAT, 3 Jan 2022

Dr. Ravi P. Bhatia – TRANSCEND Media Service

If it is your birthday you will get dozens of good wishes
The more good wishes, the more popular you are
Don’t worry if you are not popular in life
At least one day of the year you are popular.

I sometimes wonder why this day has become important
One reason, people who don’t have much to do in this pandemic
Keep busy by sending messages with Happy Happy content.

As a child I didn’t have enough to eat to keep hunger away
On my birthday, mother would buy something special, something additional
And I used to wonder ‘Why not a birthday every day?’

Today not only is it a birthday of some people
It is also the beginning of a New Year
Imagine the millions of messages obtained
It will be surely be billions Next Year.

Millions or billions, who cares
Only a few more zeroes to whet your ambition
That leads in today’s world, to your promotion

You count your zeroes,
Leave me alone with no zeroes

One Response to “Birthday Greetings”

  1. Dear Ravi,

Thank you once again for your fine thoughts, which are always a delight for sore eyes, especially in these most challenging times.

In actuality, all of us are alone with no zeros. Perfect peace.

Those that keep counting them have missed the main point.

A warm wish to you and your family for twenty twenty-two.
Said aloud, it sounds poetic, hopefully, it will be kind to us all.

Thinking of you here in Kyoto.
