Decapitation wars are large-scale struggles in which attackers attempt to defeat an enemy regime by targeting and assassinating a substantial number of its civilian and military leaders. The current war in Iran, begun by the U.S.  and Israel during negotiations without any immediate provocation or threat by Iran or its allies, is one of the first such wars.
