15 Jan 2019 – Myanmar has refused a U.N. human rights expert entry as she visits Thailand and Bangladesh investigating abuses against the Rohingya being committed in the country. Myanmar has barred Yanghee Lee from the country since December 2017.

Myanmar Bishops Ask Pope Not to Use Rohingya Term during Visit

29 Aug 2017 – The Catholic Bishop’s Conference of Myanmar have suggested to Pope Francis not to use the term “Rohingya” when he visits Myanmar for three days in November. The visit, aimed broadly at helping the troubled peace process in the strife torn country, welcomed by faith leaders.

Boat Tragedy Highlights Myanmar’s Treatment of Rohingyas

21 Apr 2016 – The deaths of over 20 Rohingyas in a boating accident have again put the focus on Myanmar’s ill treatment of the Muslim minority. Nine children were among the 21 confirmed dead from the accident that occurred in rough seas off the coast of Rakhine state April 19. Tens of thousands are held in internment camps where they face severe restrictions on their freedom of movement.
