WIN-WIN:
1) US/UK/France target unused fields and facilities with no damage for domestic propaganda purposes (to appear tough and satisfy the Israel/Zionist lobbies who have been pushing for war like they did in Iraq, Yemen, and Libya and now pushing for war on Iran).
2) Russia and Syria also get a propaganda “win” having shot most of the missiles using “old” Soviet era weapons and Syria gets to get more advanced weapons.

18 Jun 2017 – I, who happen to be a US citizen, spent 40 hours on grueling travel between Palestine and the USA and my documents (and luggage) were checked 15-20 times along the way. US security agents were at the exit from the Amman-Chicago flight waiting for me checking IDs and when the one checking my ID announced “we got him” loud enough for the other passenger to hear, four of them escorted me to get my checked-in luggage and then to a special security area where agents went through everything I had thoroughly. They looked through my note book/diary and also copied my speaking schedule.

• Axis 1- Saudi Arabia, Emirates, Egypt, Israel, USA
• Axis 2- Qatar, Turkey
• Axis 3- Syria, Iran, Russia, and possibly China (for now keeping a distance)
Axis 1 now decided to go after axis 2. Axis 2 is considering moving for protection to axis 3. The US is solidly behind axis 1 but keeping leverage via axis 2 (US bases both in Turkey and Qatar). The US is trying hard to undermine axis 3.

Mahatma Gandhi used hunger strike to refocus people away from greed and selfishness to caring for each other. Hunger is painful and people will die sooner or later unless we all act. What is at stake is very high: our own self-respect (dignity) as human beings.

9 Apr 2017 – Today is the anniversary of the massacre at Deir Yassin [also the Norwegian day of trauma: German 1940 invasion]. Today also saw terrorists bombing Christian Churches on Palm Sunday; over 120 were killed or severely injured. Our condolences to the victims and our thoughts and prayers with the injured.

John Kerry is delusional if he thinks he can temporarily curb the appetite of those who believe in an ideology of conquest, subjugation and exceptionalism (“chosen people”) to save “Zionism”. His claim that Shimon Peres told him that 78% of Palestine is enough and that they should let the Palestinians have the other 22% is simply not believable.

16 Aug 2016 – It has been 8 years since I moved back from the USA to occupied Palestine and it may be worth a brief reflection… All of this was done while struggling against not just Israeli occupation with its repression (e.g. inability to import things normally, lack of freedom of movement) but some Palestinian societal backward culture including nepotism, patriarchy, bureaucracy, and corruption. We were learning as we go how to deal with people (including the “mental occupation”).

Edward Said once told us we do not have to choose between a secular corrupt dictatorship and rule by Muslim Brotherhood. I do not have to support Zionism to be for Jewish rights. I do not have to support the Assad regime to be against the Saudi/US/Israel supported “rebel” groups who are nothing more than mercenary terrorists. We have many choices. It is time we exercise them.

We in Palestine do not have too many answers since most of our people are still at that subsistence level. It is irritating to see the elites (including Palestinian and Israelis) who have their basic needs met refuse to rise to higher levels and get motivated to do something different to make this a better world. At least they should/could follow Howard Zinn’s advice and get off the train (His book “you can’t be neutral on a moving train”).

So did humans develop compassion fatigue and does this bode ill for our future as a species? I do not know and cannot predict the future. I can only act against the negative trends and draw closer to other activists. When we do find people who still cares, we latch onto them and try to do something together to keep our sanity. We must never give up. We must “stay human” as Vittorio used to write to us.

What do those of us feel after lost jobs, after time in jail, after being beaten and gassed by Israeli soldiers, or after all of the above? How does one distinguish between selfishness and enlightened self-interest? Is activism for peace and justice the ultimate love of humanity or the triumph of optimism over experience? Is activism and living life simply the ultimate love of Mother Nature or of God? The following rambling thoughts do not intend to give answers but hopefully give us time to reflect and think.
