Take Syria Seriously–And Stay Out
Saul Landau – Foreign Policy in Focus, 10 Jun 2013

Obama’s spin language on Syria referring to the use of chemical weapons (calling it a “red line” and “game changer)” sounds like a moral imperative, but it overlooks key facts: the U.S. military used phosphorous bombs in attacks on Fallujah during the Iraq War, and U.S. Air Force planes dropped tons of Agent Orange on Vietnam.

Saul Landau and Nelson P. Valdés - CounterPunch, 6 May 2013

In their 54-year-old effort to bring down Cuba’s revolutionary government and restore obedience in our Caribbean neighbor, U.S. officials have compiled a spectacular record of failure, overshadowed only by the determination to persist in their pursuit of wrongheaded polices, further damaging U.S. interests.

To Libya with God on Our Side
Saul Landau and Nelson Valdes – Information Clearing House, 11 Apr 2011

Grabbing other people’s land and interfering in their affairs became as American as apple pie before the annexation of Texas, and “Manifest Destiny” as the engine of U.S. foreign policy. After Fidel Castro’s abdominal surgery in the summer of 2006, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice assured Cubans in Bush’s name: "You must know that you have no greater friend than the United States of America." This great pal showed amity by not allowing Cubans to see relatives and limiting the amount of remittances their families […]

THE STATE THAT TOLERATES NO CRITICISM – HOW ISRAEL GIVES JEWS A BAD NAME
Saul Landau, 16 Mar 2009

Most Jews I know get little pleasure from the existence of Israel; just the opposite. They feel disgusted by the behavior of their tribal kin toward Palestinians. This antipathy doesn’t concern Israel’s right to exist, a phony argument still maintained by hard line Zionists. Israel exists, period. Most of the world recognizes that. Anyone wanting […]

FAREWELL, MONROE DOCTRINE
Philip Brenner and Saul Landau, 4 Feb 2009

President Barack Obama could swiftly improve U.S. relations with Latin America by announcing the death of the Monroe Doctrine and then presiding over its funeral. Such a statement would cost him little domestically and win him praise and appreciation throughout Latin America and much of the world. Most Americans don’t know the details of this […]
