Now a powerful figure in the government of Myanmar, Suu Kyi has been either silent or dismissive as the country’s Muslim Rohingya minority has been subjected to an ethnic cleansing campaign by the country’s military. Once an international beacon of liberty, she has recently derided reports of military atrocities as “fake news.” This Lady Liberty seems to have feet of clay.
