{"id":104553,"date":"2018-01-08T12:00:53","date_gmt":"2018-01-08T12:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/?p=104553"},"modified":"2018-01-04T12:04:05","modified_gmt":"2018-01-04T12:04:05","slug":"which-war-in-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/2018\/01\/which-war-in-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Which War in 2018?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_104554\" style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/call-of-duty-2018-video-game.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-104554\" class=\"size-full wp-image-104554\" src=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/call-of-duty-2018-video-game.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/call-of-duty-2018-video-game.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/call-of-duty-2018-video-game-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-104554\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Advert for war propaganda video game<\/p><\/div>\n<p><em>29 Dec 2017 &#8211; <\/em>I was reading <em>The Saker<\/em> this morning &#8211; one of my daily stops along my milk route as I explore what others are thinking and doing.\u00a0 Saker is a Russian emigre living in Florida.\u00a0 He is an expert on US-Russian military issues and I have learned much from him- especially the Ukraine story.<\/p>\n<p>While trying to grapple with an unstable coming new year, he wrote an article <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/thesaker.is\/2018-war-or-no-war\/\" >&#8216;2018 war or no war?&#8217;<\/a>.\u00a0 He is trying to get a handle on what US-NATO-Israel will do in their sick quest to knock down Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Venezuela and many others.\u00a0 Mr. Big wants it all &#8211; the question is how far will he go?\u00a0 Some of the outcome depends on us.<\/p>\n<p>Saker writes:<\/p>\n<p><em>Now let\u2019s sum this all up.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>The chances are <strong>high<\/strong> that in 2018 the USA will: <\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Escalate the war in Afghanistan<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Renege on the nuclear deal with Iran<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Back an Ukronazi attack on Novorussia<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>It is <strong>quite possible<\/strong> that the USA will also<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Shoot down a Russian aircraft over Syria<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>I find it <strong>unlikely<\/strong> that the USA will<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Invade Syria<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Invade Venezuela<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>I am <strong>unable to evaluate<\/strong> whether the USA will:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Disconnect Russia from SWIFT or seize Russian assets<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Attack the DPRK<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Also looking at 2018 the outlet <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/spacenews.com\/2018-a-big-year-of-transition-for-military-space\/\" ><strong>Space News<\/strong><\/a> reports on the wrangling in Congress that continues over establishment of an independent service level Space Force.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Lawmakers fault the Air Force for not investing in important technologies that the military needs to ensure access to space. \u201cWe got behind, we became dependent on a Russian engine, we kept using a launch vehicle that is massively expensive, we didn\u2019t take advantage of commercial opportunities,\u201d Rep. Adam Smith, the ranking Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee said. \u201cThere is no question that we have been lagging.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The responsibility for military space may be too much for the Air Force to handle on top of its other missions, Smith said. \u201cThe Air Force is in charge of a lot of things. They\u2019re in charge of nuclear weapons. They\u2019re in charge of air superiority. Being in charge of space is third on that list.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>They&#8217;ve all got their hands in this pie\u00a0 &#8211; Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, and more.\u00a0 Space warfare preparation and &#8216;defense&#8217; is the biggest industrial project in Earth history.\u00a0 Big enemies are needed to sell this one to a worn out public. Thus Russia and China public whippings &#8211; and back to the old days of sweet azaleas on the plantation.
