{"id":108875,"date":"2018-04-09T12:00:27","date_gmt":"2018-04-09T11:00:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/?p=108875"},"modified":"2018-04-05T16:41:29","modified_gmt":"2018-04-05T15:41:29","slug":"the-lady-of-the-roses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/2018\/04\/the-lady-of-the-roses\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cThe Lady of the Roses\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p><em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211;for Susanne<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>What can be said about her?<br \/>\nShe rose when sorrow fell.<br \/>\nWhen she walked into her garden<br \/>\nblossoms opened.<\/p>\n<p>There was a fragrance<br \/>\naround her.<br \/>\nRocks spoke \u00a0to her.<br \/>\nTrees bowed down.<\/p>\n<p>We who were blessed<br \/>\nto be\u00a0always near<br \/>\ngrew stronger&#8211;<br \/>\nlike every plant in her gaze.<\/p>\n<p>She loved big dogs, big monkies,<br \/>\nbright colors, real chocolate,<br \/>\nHawaiian skies.<\/p>\n<p>Whatever she touched became art.<\/p>\n<p>She was a temple-maker.<\/p>\n<p>Where she walked the earth was glad.<\/p>\n<p>And now she is back in the garden<br \/>\nof the Lady of the Roses,<br \/>\ncarrying blessings from that other world<br \/>\nno one owns.<\/p>\n<p>The peach trees blossom.<br \/>\nThe water flows.<br \/>\n_______________________________________________<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Susanne Still was a writer, ceramicist, painter, photographer and herbalist. Her last poem, \u201cSlipping On,\u201d appeared at the TMS.org site on March 12 this year (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/2018\/03\/slipping-onward\/\" >https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/2018\/03\/slipping-onward\/<\/a>). Andrew Quilliam<\/em> <em>Brewer, Susanne\u2019s husband, is a writer and homeopath, living with his son on a mountain in North Carolina.
