{"id":131896,"date":"2019-04-29T12:00:58","date_gmt":"2019-04-29T11:00:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/?p=131896"},"modified":"2019-04-19T16:04:40","modified_gmt":"2019-04-19T15:04:40","slug":"the-war-has-started","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/2019\/04\/the-war-has-started\/","title":{"rendered":"The War Has Started"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p><em>For the Behrouzi Family<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The War has started<br \/>\nBut life goes on:<br \/>\n(This conclusion is pathetic and painful,<br \/>\nYet so, so true&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>Life goes on for those that live,<br \/>\n(But especially for those who die!)<br \/>\nLife continues to be pathetic and painful,<br \/>\nYet so, so true.<\/p>\n<p>The War has started<br \/>\nAnd fresh blood is spilling<br \/>\nFrom shattered men and women,<br \/>\nFrom shattered children,<br \/>\nFrom human beings, broken and smashed,<br \/>\nLike jars of jam tumbling off the shelf:<br \/>\nLie on the floor, bloody and incurable;<br \/>\nLie painful and in putrid form,<br \/>\nYet so, so true&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The War has started, and the world groans.<br \/>\nAnd the world dances and sings.<br \/>\nThe world has fun, buying and selling,<br \/>\nAnd life rolls on, pathetic,<br \/>\nPainful.<br \/>\nOnly God understands this pain! Only He groans!<br \/>\nThe pain of His image and semblance<br \/>\nDecimating His image and semblance.<br \/>\nAnd so many images and semblances lying there,<br \/>\nShattered,<br \/>\nBroken,<br \/>\nBloody.<\/p>\n<p>Only God understands the silent scream<br \/>\nOf infant corpses.<br \/>\nAlas! A painful lack of groans,<br \/>\nThe terrible lack of sobbing,<br \/>\nA devastating silence&#8230;<br \/>\n(And then: the shovels digging graves.)<\/p>\n<p>And life goes on<br \/>\nShattered,<br \/>\nSplintered,<br \/>\nBloody.<br \/>\nPutrid like hate in the hearts.<br \/>\nPathetic like vain words.<br \/>\nLike vain rhetoric, that in itself kills.<\/p>\n<p>The War has started,<br \/>\nBut life goes on.<br \/>\nIt carries on, without a purpose,<br \/>\nEach time more without a purpose.<br \/>\nLike silent corpses.<br \/>\nLike smoking ruins.<br \/>\nLike hearts without God.<br \/>\n<em>_______________________________________________________<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/luis_henrique.beust_-e1550234798197.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-128033\" src=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/luis_henrique.beust_-e1550234798197.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a><\/em><em>Luis Henrique Beust was born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, in 1958. Beust is a consultant in human and social development at the UN-UNDP (United Nations Development Program), having worked in more than 30 countries in the three Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. He also works as a consultant for corporations, governmental and nongovernmental organizations in Brazil and abroad.\u00a0 Since 1977 he has been a member of the Bah\u00e1&#8217;\u00ed community, having served in local, regional and national bodies throughout the decades. Like all Bah\u00e1&#8217;\u00eds, he believes that &#8220;peace is not only possible but inevitable.&#8221; That world peace is the next stage of the collective life of mankind on this planet. He has been professor in graduate courses in Brazil and abroad, and has several published texts and books, including poetry.
