{"id":133054,"date":"2019-05-06T12:00:06","date_gmt":"2019-05-06T11:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/?p=133054"},"modified":"2019-05-07T06:45:33","modified_gmt":"2019-05-07T05:45:33","slug":"meanwhile-around-the-world-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/2019\/05\/meanwhile-around-the-world-20\/","title":{"rendered":"Meanwhile, Around the World"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There is much <em>diversity<\/em>.\u00a0 Let us praise that mega aspect of our world as multipolar, passive but peaceful, coexistence of <em>civilizations<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p>Anglo-American; Latin American-Caribbean; Islamic; African pre-, post-colonial; European from Ireland to Russia Far East; West Asian Islamic; with Israel Jewish; Iran Persian; South Asian, SAARC, Hindu and Islamic with India; Southeast Asian, ASEAN, Buddhist, Christian, multi-cultural; Northeast Asian daoist-shinto with China and Japan; Asian-Pacific, multi-cultural, with Maoris, Aborigines, Polynesians, Micronesians, Melanesians from one rim to the other.<\/p>\n<p>14 civilizations.\u00a0 Others stop counting at 8, 10.\u00a0 Around that.<\/p>\n<p>What a wonderful, diverse, polyphonic world!\u00a0 Not monophonic US or European all over, as they both have wanted and maybe still want.<\/p>\n<p>To be celebrated as part of a formula for endurance and duration.\u00a0 The other part is symbiosis.\u00a0 Man-woman diversity is fine; the other part is man-woman symbiosis, celebrated in half of world literature?<\/p>\n<p>Civilization diversity is fine, so is symbiosis.\u00a0 Meaning what?<\/p>\n<p>The standard answer: dialogue. &#8220;<em>This is our position; what is yours?<\/em>&#8221;\u00a0 Good enough for getting to know each other across gaps of differences.\u00a0 But not good enough for symbiosis, for &#8220;living together&#8221;-ness.<\/p>\n<p>What more is needed, beyond &#8220;dialogue of civilizations&#8221;?<\/p>\n<p>Like for man-woman: creating something new.\u00a0 A real dialogue goes beyond getting to know each other to mutual learning, beyond mutual learning to mutual visions, and beyond that to mutual practice.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, Christianity and Islam could join in producing a Chrislam, Hinduism and Buddhism a Hinbuism, Daoism and Shinto a Daoshin.<\/p>\n<p>The civilizations we know, and often celebrate as if they were eternal, arose like that.\u00a0 That wonderful process will not stop by somebody putting a lid on it: <em>&#8220;You have us; that is all you need&#8221;<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>They may try, but will not succeed.\u00a0 Seeds under ice burst forth.
