{"id":133754,"date":"2019-05-20T12:00:26","date_gmt":"2019-05-20T11:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/?p=133754"},"modified":"2019-05-18T11:05:38","modified_gmt":"2019-05-18T10:05:38","slug":"man-and-praying-woman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/2019\/05\/man-and-praying-woman\/","title":{"rendered":"Man and Praying Woman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The white clay clumped and,<br \/>\nHardening, needed to be worked<br \/>\nQuickly<\/p>\n<p>My hands followed forgotten emissaries<br \/>\nWho whispered fissures, escarpments,<br \/>\nLigaments and tendrils,<br \/>\nThe shattered ice of forest lakes<br \/>\nOn the long lunar escape:<br \/>\nAnother self begun<\/p>\n<p>As I stepped back<br \/>\nThe rough figures began to please &#8211;<br \/>\nHe, hulking, looming,<br \/>\nAn arm outstretched, and she,<br \/>\nSilent and prayerful &#8211;<br \/>\nThey were, these two,<br \/>\nThe all of what was left,<br \/>\nThe culmination of my frantic luxury<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps she would arise,<br \/>\nPerhaps they would walk together &#8211;<br \/>\nOnce I had turned away &#8211;<br \/>\nTo watch the curling sneer of a wave<br \/>\nUnfolding, listen for its rumble<br \/>\nOver and over as they approached<br \/>\nA shoreline bend<\/p>\n<p>I would follow them gladly,<br \/>\nI would wait beneath the passing heavens<br \/>\nFor the sands to swallow or support<\/p>\n<p>Here however they are poised:<br \/>\nTheir silhouettes divide my room,<br \/>\nPast and future, brilliance and neglect<\/p>\n<p>Whimsically I slice an apple ,<br \/>\nBring my clay-besotted fingers<br \/>\nTo my aching mouth<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>May 2019<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>______________________________________________<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/emanuel-Garcia-e1499591161992.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-95249\" src=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/emanuel-Garcia-e1499591161992.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"151\" \/><\/a><\/em><em>Dr. Emanuel E.
