The information comes from Brazilian space research institute INPE&#8217;s DETER alert system.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If this upward curve continues, we could have a bad year for the Amazon forest,&#8221; said INPE satellite monitoring head Claudio Almeida.<\/p>\n<p>The Amazon deforestation is just part of a global problem,\u00a0said\u00a0youth activist Greta Thunberg.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Disastrous deforestation like this must come to an end,&#8221; Thunberg said. &#8220;And not just in the Amazon&#8230; We are literally sawing off the branch we all live on.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Disastrous deforestation like this must come to an end.
