{"id":137015,"date":"2019-07-08T12:00:38","date_gmt":"2019-07-08T11:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/?p=137015"},"modified":"2019-07-05T11:52:50","modified_gmt":"2019-07-05T10:52:50","slug":"hindi-poems-the-environment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/2019\/07\/hindi-poems-the-environment\/","title":{"rendered":"Hindi Poems: The Environment"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p><em>The author wrote the poems in Hindi and translated them to English.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>1<br \/>\nThe lake meets the river<br \/>\nThe river meets the Sea<br \/>\nWhen they all dry up<br \/>\nWho recognises the lake, the river, the Sea?<\/p>\n<p>2<br \/>\nThe Earth beseeches the Sky<br \/>\nPlease come closer to us<br \/>\nWe want no silver or gold<br \/>\nJust give us a few drops of rain<\/p>\n<p>3<br \/>\nThe weather is dry<br \/>\nThe Earth is parched<br \/>\nWe are afraid about our life<br \/>\nLet us hope Lord Indra recognises our plight<br \/>\nAnd gives us a few drops of rain<\/p>\n<p>4<br \/>\nWhen, where, how<br \/>\nNow, here, this way<br \/>\nThese Q and As we have already been debated<br \/>\nAnd discovered we have destroyed our Earth<br \/>\nNow let us at least save humanity<\/p>\n<p>5<br \/>\nThe bird asks the tree<br \/>\nWhen will you give us fruit<br \/>\nThe tree asks the farmer<br \/>\nWhen will you water us<br \/>\nThe farmer asks Lord Indradev<br \/>\nWhen will you give us rain?<\/p>\n<p>6<br \/>\nDrop by drop we get the River<br \/>\nDrop by drop the Sea is formed<br \/>\nA few Drops will quench our thirst<br \/>\nPlease save these drops that fall on us<\/p>\n<p>7<br \/>\nThe fish is the queen of the sea<br \/>\nAlive by the waters of the sea<br \/>\nIf the sea becomes polluted<br \/>\nWho will save our Queen?<\/p>\n<p>8<br \/>\nWhere are you going my Lord<br \/>\nGive me my freedom, my life<br \/>\nYour freedom is in your home<br \/>\nYes, but give us a few drops of water<\/p>\n<p>9<br \/>\nThe bird laments out loudly<br \/>\nThere is no rain<br \/>\nPlease sing Malhar melody<br \/>\nThe clouds will help us surely<\/p>\n<p>10.<br \/>\nWhat we missed during the night<br \/>\nWhat we saw during the day<br \/>\nWill the Earth remain scorched<br \/>\nNo, Just ask the Lord for some drops<\/p>\n<p>11<br \/>\nWake up my friend, wake up<br \/>\nDon\u2019t run away from your scorched land<br \/>\nThis is your land, your only land<br \/>\nWater it and the land will dance in joy<\/p>\n<p>12<br \/>\nAfter the tears dried up<br \/>\nThe thirsty man looked for the clouds<br \/>\nThe clouds gazed towards the man<br \/>\nI will give you some water<br \/>\nAnd your eyes will become wet again<br \/>\n______________________________________________<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Ravi-P-Bhatia-e1471532294478.jpe\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-70777\" src=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Ravi-P-Bhatia-e1471532294478.jpe\" alt=\"\" width=\"64\" height=\"64\" \/><\/a><\/em><em>Dr Ravi P Bhatia is a member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/\" >TRANSCEND Network for Peace Development Environment<\/a>, an<\/em> <em>educationist, Gandhian scholar and peace researcher.
