1 Jul 2019 – <\/em>Michael de Adder shared the cartoon depicting U.S. President Donald Trump and the border crisis on his social accounts.<\/p>\n

The Canadian cartoonist who drew a viral depiction of U.S. President Donald Trump<\/a> and the border crisis is defending his own credibility after his contract was terminated by a newspaper publisher.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt sounds corny, but I have a personal code of conduct. It\u2019s kept me employed for 20 years in a business that\u2019s been dying for 10,\u201d<\/em> Michael de Adder<\/a>\u00a0wrote on Twitter<\/a> on Monday.<\/p>\n

He posted a cartoon<\/a> last week which shows Trump standing by a golf cart, asking \u201cDo you mind if I play through?\u201d while standing above two bodies. The image recalls the drowning of\u00a0\u00d3scar Alberto Mart\u00ednez Ram\u00edrez<\/a>\u00a0and his 23-month-old daughter, Valeria, in the Rio Grande River as they tried to cross the Mexico-U.S. border.<\/p>\n

That same week, his freelance contract with Brunswick News<\/a> and their four newspapers in New Brunswick was terminated. The cartoon was not published in the papers but was shared widely on social media.<\/p>\n
