21 Jul 2019 – <\/em>Non-Aligned Countries<\/a>\u00a0demanded\u00a0today\u00a0that the\u00a0United States\u00a0Government immediately\u00a0lift the\u00a0economic\u00a0and\u00a0financial\u00a0sanctions\u00a0imposed on Venezuela.<\/p>\n

In a statement signed by the members of the international organization, which met for two days in Caracas, the delegations of 120 NAM\u00a0countries indicated that only Venezuela can decide its fate, no other State can intervene in accordance with the United Nations Charter.<\/p>\n

NAM countries reject\u00a0foreign intervention in the South American country and reiterated their\u00a0commitment to redouble efforts aimed at channeling the Government and the Venezuelan opposition to find a peaceful solution to the problems of the country.<\/p>\n

The group of countries supports the Montevideo mechanism, the mediation of Norway and other mechanisms that seek stability in Venezuela.<\/p>\n

Prior to reading the statement in support of Venezuela, several representatives of the entity participated in a session held on Sunday morning, in the framework of the Ministerial Meeting.<\/p>\n

Russian Deputy Minister Sergei Riabkov said that US measures are suffocating Venezuela.<\/p>\n

For his part, the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Javad Zarif, said that the sanctions of the United States against sovereign countries are part of\u00a0pure terrorism.<\/p>\n
