Braha is seen ordering OPCW staff to \u201cremove all traces, if any, of its delivery\/storage\/whatever\u201d from the organisation\u2019s secure registry.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Minutes from an OPCW meeting with toxicologists specialized in chemical weapons: \u201cthe experts were conclusive in their statements that there was<br \/>no correlation between symptoms and chlorine exposure\u201d.<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/j5Jgjiz8UY\" >https:\/\/t.co\/j5Jgjiz8UY<\/a> <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/vgPaTtsdQN\" >pic.twitter.com\/vgPaTtsdQN<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; WikiLeaks (@wikileaks) <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/wikileaks\/status\/1210564199161708545?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" >December 27, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The drop also includes the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/wikileaks.org\/opcw-douma\/document\/actual_toxicology_meeting_redacted\/\" >minutes from an OPCW toxicology meeting<\/a> with\u00a0\u201cthree Toxicologists\/Clinical pharmacologists, one bioanalytical and toxicological chemist\u201d, all four of whom are specialists in chemical weapons analysis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith respect to the consistency of the observed and reported symptoms of the alleged victims with possible exposure to chlorine gas or similar, the experts were conclusive in their statements that there was no correlation between symptoms and chlorine exposure,\u201d the document reads.<\/p>\n<p>According to the leaked minutes from the toxicology meeting, the chief expert offered \u201cthe possibility of the event being a propaganda exercise\u201d as one potential explanation for the Douma incident. The other OPCW experts agreed that\u00a0the key \u201ctake-away message\u201d from the meeting was\u00a0\u201cthat the symptoms observed were inconsistent with exposure to chlorine and no other obvious candidate chemical causing the symptoms could be identified\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/opcw-report-syria-chemical-douma-fake.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-150712\" src=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/opcw-report-syria-chemical-douma-fake.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"374\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/opcw-report-syria-chemical-douma-fake.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/opcw-report-syria-chemical-douma-fake-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/opcw-report-syria-chemical-douma-fake-768x575.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Like all the other <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/consortiumnews.com\/2019\/05\/17\/confirmed-chemical-weapons-assessment-contradicting-official-syria-narrative-is-authentic\/\" >many<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.counterpunch.org\/2019\/11\/15\/the-opcw-and-douma-chemical-weapons-watchdog-accused-of-evidence-tampering-by-its-own-inspectors\/\" >many<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/hitchensblog.mailonsunday.co.uk\/2019\/11\/the-leaked-e-mail-from-the-opcw-in-full.html\" >many<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@caityjohnstone\/deluge-of-new-leaks-further-shreds-the-establishment-syria-narrative-e5ba3ba9b44b\" >many different leaks<\/a> which have been <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@caityjohnstone\/understand-the-opcw-scandal-in-seven-minutes-2ccc81bc03ff\" >hemorrhaging from the OPCW<\/a> about <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/70OQBZcEnTA\" >the Douma incident<\/a>, none of the important information contained in these publications was included in any of the OPCW\u2019s public reports on the matter. According to the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opcw.org\/sites\/default\/files\/documents\/2019\/03\/s-1731-2019%28e%29.pdf\" >OPCW\u2019s Final Report<\/a> published in March 2019, the investigative team found \u201creasonable grounds that the use of a toxic chemical as a weapon took place. This toxic chemical contained reactive chlorine. The toxic chemical was likely molecular chlorine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We now know that these \u201creasonable grounds\u201d contain more holes than a spaghetti strainer executed by firing squad. This is extremely important information about an unsolved war crime which resulted in dozens of civilian deaths and led to an act of war which <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2018\/04\/16\/syria-airstrikes-cost-to-us-taxpayers.html\" >cost taxpayers tens of millions of dollars<\/a>\u00a0and had many far-reaching geopolitical consequences.<\/p>\n<p>Yet the mass media, freakishly, has had absolutely nothing to say about this extremely newsworthy story.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/opcw-report-syria-chemical-douma-fake2.png\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-150713\" src=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/opcw-report-syria-chemical-douma-fake2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"337\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/opcw-report-syria-chemical-douma-fake2.png 774w, https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/opcw-report-syria-chemical-douma-fake2-300x145.png 300w, https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/opcw-report-syria-chemical-douma-fake2-768x370.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a>As of this writing, a Google News search for this story brings up an article by RT, <em>Al-Masdar News<\/em>, and some entries by alternative outlets you\u2019ve almost certainly never heard of like\u00a0<em>UrduPoint News<\/em> and <em>People\u2019s Pundit Daily<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Make no mistake about it: this is insane. The fact that an extremely important news story of immense geopolitical consequence is not getting <em>any<\/em> mainstream news media coverage, <strong><em>at all<\/em><\/strong>, is absolutely stark raving insane.<\/p>\n<p>Up until the OPCW leaks, WikiLeaks drops always made mainstream news headlines. Everyone remembers how the 2016 news cycle was largely dominated by leaked Democratic Party emails emerging from the outlet. Even the relatively minor ICE agents publication by WikiLeaks last year, containing information that <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/caitlinjohnstone.com\/2018\/06\/29\/many-trump-supporters-now-cheering-for-the-deep-state-over-wikileaks-and-iran\/\" >was already public,<\/a> garnered headlines from top US outlets like <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/morning-mix\/wp\/2018\/06\/22\/wikileaks-publishes-identities-and-information-about-ice-employees-amid-intensifying-anger\/\" ><em>The Washington Post<\/em><\/a>\u00a0, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/icepatrol-wikileaks-publishes-database-ice-employees-despite-attempts-censor-990261\" ><em>Newsweek<\/em><\/a>, and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2018\/06\/21\/wikileaks-says-published-ice-employees-linkedin-profiles\/724129002\/\" ><em>USA Today<\/em><\/a>. Now, on this exponentially more important story, zero coverage.<\/p>\n<p>The mass media\u2019s stone-dead silence on the OPCW scandal is becoming its own scandal, of equal or perhaps even greater significance than the OPCW scandal itself. It opens up a whole litany of questions which have tremendous importance for every citizen of the western world; questions like, how are people supposed to participate in democracy if all the outlets they normally turn to to make informed voting decisions adamantly refuse to tell them about the existence of massive news stories like the OPCW scandal? How are people meant to address such conspiracies of silence when there is no mechanism in place to hold the entire mass media to account for its complicity in it? And by what mechanism are all these outlets unifying in that conspiracy of silence?<\/p>\n<p>We can at least gain some insight into that last question with the internal <em>Newsweek<\/em> emails which were <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/tareqhaddad.com\/2019\/12\/14\/lies-newsweek-and-control-of-the-media-narrative-first-hand-account\/\" >published by journalist Tareq Haddad<\/a> two weeks ago. The emails feature multiple <em>Newsweek<\/em> editors telling Haddad that they would not publish a word about the OPCW leaks <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@caityjohnstone\/deluge-of-new-leaks-further-shreds-the-establishment-syria-narrative-e5ba3ba9b44b\" >for two reasons<\/a>: (1) because no other outlets were reporting on them, and (2) because the US government-funded narrative management firm Bellingcat had <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/consortiumnews.com\/2019\/11\/27\/narrative-managers-faceplant-in-opcw-scandal-spin-job\/\" >published a laughably bogus article<\/a> explaining why the leaks weren\u2019t newsworthy. Haddad has since resigned from <em>Newsweek<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>We may be certain that this story is being killed in news rooms all around the world in similar fashion, and possibly using those very same excuses. As long as no other \u201crespectable\u201d (i.e. establishment) outlets are covering this story, it can be treated as a non-story, using a deceitful US government-funded narrative management operation as justification as needed. The leaks show that Trump\u2014like Dubya\u2014 used fake WMDs to bomb Arab country\u2014then strong-armed OPCW to cover up the lies,\u201d <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MarkAmesExiled\/status\/1210566565462183936?s=20\" >tweeted<\/a> journalist Mark Ames.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe US attacked Syria for a chemical attack by Assad last year. But official OPCW\u00a0scientists who investigated the event didn\u2019t find evidence the Syrian military used chemical weapons. The media has chosen to ignore this story and fire its own journalists who try to report on it,\u201d <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MaxAbrahms\/status\/1210592108568104962?s=20\" >tweeted<\/a> author and analyst Max Abrahms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the FOURTH leak showing how the OPCW fabricated a report on a supposed Syrian \u2018chemical\u2019 attack,\u201d <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BenjaminNorton\/status\/1210584629947912224?s=20\" >tweeted<\/a> journalist Ben Norton. \u201cAnd mainstream Western corporate media outlets are still silent, showing how authoritarian these \u2018democracies\u2019 are and how tightly they control info.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMedia silence on this story is its own scandal,\u201d <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/aaronjmate\/status\/1210594322145525763?s=20\" >tweeted<\/a> journalist Aaron Mat\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>But this spin machine is twirling off its axis trying to normalize this silence.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Surprise, surprise, Wikileaks didn&#39;t leak the next email in this chain from the OPCW questioning why Ian Henderson was creating rogue reports.<\/p>\n<p>This email also quite clearly contradicts &quot;Alex&#39;s&quot; claim that Henderson was in the FFM. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/qcJkAyXe9W\" >pic.twitter.com\/qcJkAyXe9W<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Nick Waters (@N_Waters89) <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/N_Waters89\/status\/1210583532231413762?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" >December 27, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Bellingcat narrative jockeys such as \u201csenior investigator\u201d Nick Waters are already scrambling to perception manage everyone into believing their own eyes are lying to them. Waters <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/N_Waters89\/status\/1210583532231413762\" >has a thread on Twitter<\/a> that\u2019s being shared around by all the usual Syria spinmeisters claiming, based on no evidence whatsoever, that WikiLeaks is selectively publishing the documents it has to create a false impression of events in the OPCW. Waters falsely claims that an email by Sebastien \u201cVoldemort\u201d Braha\u200a\u2014\u200athe guy at the center of the scandal\u200a\u2014\u200aproves that Ian Henderson was not a part of the Fact-Finding Mission (FFM) in Douma, in contradiction to the claims made by the anonymous second OPCW whistleblower who goes by the pseudonym of \u201cAlex\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>As Waters is one hundred percent aware, Henderson absolutely <em>was<\/em> part of the Douma Fact-Finding Mission, and one of the FFM members who actually went to Douma no less. I\u2019ve put together a Twitter thread refuting Waters\u2019 ridiculous claims which <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/caitoz\/status\/1210717367702966272?s=20\" >you can read by clicking here<\/a>, but in short an arbitrary distinction seems to have been made between the FFM and the \u201cFFM core team\u201d, or what is labeled the \u201c<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/wikileaks.org\/opcw-douma\/document\/exclusion_of_douma_ffm_team_july_2018\/\" >FFM Alpha team<\/a>\u201d in a newly leaked email trying to marginalize Henderson\u2019s assessment. Henderson actually went to Douma as part of the FFM, unlike almost all members of the so-called \u201ccore team\u201d who except for one paramedic <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@caityjohnstone\/deluge-of-new-leaks-further-shreds-the-establishment-syria-narrative-e5ba3ba9b44b\" >operated solely in another nation<\/a> (probably Turkey).<\/p>\n<p>Of course, the distinction of whether Henderson was or was not \u201cin the FFM\u201d is also itself irrelevant and arbitrary, since we know for a fact that he is a longtime OPCW inspector who went to Douma and contributed an assessment which was hidden from the public by the OPCW.<\/p>\n<p>So this narrative being spun by the US government-funded propagandists at Bellingcat is bogus from top to bottom, but what\u2019s infuriating is that we already know who editors in news rooms are going to listen to.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&quot;We have this alternative media ecosystem that is driving a lot of disinformation. Mere hours after the latest WikiLeaks drop,\u00a0CNN pundit Brian Stelter <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/brianstelter\/status\/1210591343971651586?s=20\" >shared an article<\/a> about Bellingcat founder and former Atlantic Council Senior Fellow Eliot Higgins, who warns of the dangers posed by alternative media reporters who cover underreported stories like the OPCW scandal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have this alternative media ecosystem that is driving a lot of disinformation. It is not understood by journalists or anyone really beyond a very small group of people who are really engaged with it,\u201d reads the ironic Higgins quote in the excerpt shared by Stelter.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve been seeing a mad rush from mass media pundits to give this US government-funded narrative management operation unearned and undeserved legitimacy, churning out tweets like Stelter\u2019s and fawning puff pieces by <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/12\/01\/business\/media\/open-source-journalism-bellingcat.html\" ><em>The New York Times<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/media\/2018\/sep\/30\/bellingcat-eliot-higgins-exposed-novichok-russian-spy-anatoliy-chepiga\" ><em>The Guardian<\/em><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<em><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/culture\/culture-desk\/how-to-conduct-an-open-source-investigation-according-to-the-founder-of-bellingcat\" >The New Yorker<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em>This unearned and undeserved legitimacy is then used by editors to justify looking to Bellingcat for instructions on how to think about important information on Syria rather than doing their own basic investigation and analysis. It\u2019s a self-validating feedback loop which just so happens to work out very conveniently for the government which funds Bellingcat.<\/p>\n<p>It remains unknown exactly what\u2019s transpiring in news rooms around the world to maintain the conspiracy of silence on the OPCW scandal, but what is known is that by itself this scandalous silence is enough to fully discredit the mass media forever.
