A scout master asked three little scouts what good deed they had done today. The first one replied,<\/p>\n

“I helped an old lady cross the street.” <\/em><\/p>\n

“Very good,”<\/em> the scout master said. Turning to the second boy he asked, “and what did you do?” <\/em><\/p>\n

“I also helped that old lady cross the street.” <\/em><\/p>\n

“I see, try to be a little more imaginative next time and don’t simply imitate your friend.” <\/em><\/p>\n

Turning to the third boy, he asked, “and what did you do?” <\/em><\/p>\n

“I also helped that old lady cross the street.” <\/em><\/p>\n

“Why did it take all three of you?”<\/em> the scout master asked.<\/p>\n

They replied in unison, “Because she did not want to.”<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/em>Dietrich Fischer (1941-2015) from M\u00fcnsingen, Switzerland, got a Licentiate in Mathematics from the University of Bern 1968 and his Ph.D. in Computer Science from New York University 1976. Fischer was a MacArthur Fellow in International Peace and Security at Princeton University 1986-88, has taught mathematics, computer science, economics and peace studies at various universities, and been a consultant to the United Nations. He was co-founder, with Johan Galtung, of the <\/em>TRANSCEND Network for Peace, Development and Environment<\/a> in 1993<\/em>.<\/p>\n
