A journalist observed her and remarked,<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;I would not do this for a million dollars!&#8221; <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Mother Teresa retorted,<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;I would not do it for a million dollars either.&#8221; <\/em><\/p>\n<p>What motivated her, and millions of idealistic people like her, was not the profit motive, but compassion.<\/p>\n<p><em>_______________________________________________<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Dietrich-Dieter-Fischer-e1510135945622.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-101253\" src=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Dietrich-Dieter-Fischer-e1510135945622.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"67\" \/><\/a><\/em><em>Dietrich Fischer (1941-2015) from M\u00fcnsingen, Switzerland, got a Licentiate in Mathematics from the University of Bern 1968 and his Ph.D. in Computer Science from New York University 1976. Fischer was a MacArthur Fellow in International Peace and Security at Princeton University 1986-88, has taught mathematics, computer science, economics and peace studies at various universities, and been a consultant to the United Nations.
