They can try to do so through trade, investment, conquest, anything they choose.<\/p>\n<p>If a random group of schoolchildren off the street are invited to play this game, and explained the rules, within the first few minutes they usually conclude that they are all better off if they mutually eliminate all their military spending, because then they have more resources available to meet their people&#8217;s needs.<\/p>\n<p>It is unfortunate that our leaders do not have the wisdom of children.<\/p>\n<p><em>_______________________________________________<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Dieter-Dietrich-Fischer.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-65535\" src=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Dieter-Dietrich-Fischer-113x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"113\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/em><em>Dietrich Fischer (1941-2015) from M\u00fcnsingen, Switzerland, got a Licentiate in Mathematics from the University of Bern 1968 and his Ph.D. in Computer Science from New York University 1976. Fischer was a MacArthur Fellow in International Peace and Security at Princeton University 1986-88, has taught mathematics, computer science, economics and peace studies at various universities, and been a consultant to the United Nations.
