10 Jun 2020 – The Guardian has revealed<\/a> the scandal behind the hydroxychloroquine study which was intent on blocking HCQ as a cure for COVID-19. \u201cDozens of scientific papers co-authored by the chief executive of the US tech company behind the Lancet hydroxychloroquine<\/strong> study scandal are now being audited, including one that a\u00a0scientific integrity expert\u00a0claims contains images that appear to have been digitally manipulated.\u00a0The audit follows a Guardian investigation that found the company, Surgisphere<\/a>, used suspect data in major scientific studies that were published and then retracted by world-leading medical journals, including the Lancet and the New England Journal of Medicine. \u00a0\u2026.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

According to The Lancet:<\/a><\/p>\n

\u2026 several concerns were raised with respect to the veracity of the data and analyses conducted by Surgisphere Corporation and its founder and our co-author, Sapan Desai,<\/strong> in our publication. We launched an independent third-party peer review of Surgisphere \u2026 \u00a0As such, our reviewers were not able to conduct an independent and private peer review and therefore notified us of their withdrawal from the peer-review process<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The study was allegedly based on data analysis of 96,032 patients<\/strong> hospitalized with COVID-19 between Dec 20, 2019, and April 14, 2020 from 671 hospitals<\/strong> Worldwide. The database, according to the Guardian could not be verified. It was false.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am truly Sorry\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Surgishpere CEO Dr. Sapan Desai was not in charge of the study. The lead author was Harvard Medical School professor Mandeep Mehra:<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI did not do enough to ensure that the data source was appropriate for this use. For that, and for all the disruptions \u2013 both directly and indirectly \u2013 I am truly sorry.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

CEO Dr. Sapan Desai took the blame. Who was behind him?<\/p>\n

The Surgisphere Scientific Scam. Who was behind it? \u00a0Who \u201ccommissioned\u201d this Report?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Was the pharmaceutical industry and vaccine lobby group behind this initiative? \u00a0The Lancet acknowledges that the study received funding from the William Harvey Distinguished Chair in Advanced Cardiovascular Medicine at Brigham and Women\u2019s Hospital which is held by Dr. Mandeep Mehra. In this regard, it is worth noting that Brigham Health has a major contract with Big Pharma\u2019s Gilead Sciences Inc<\/a><\/strong>, related to the development of the\u00a0Remdesivir<\/strong>\u00a0drug for the treatment of COVID-19. The Gilead-Brigham Health project was initiated in March 2020<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Was the Surgisphere study<\/a> intended to provide a justification to block the use of HCQ, as recommended by Dr. Anthony Fauci,<\/strong> advisor to president Trump? Upon reading the study (prior to its retraction),\u00a0\u00a0\u201cDr Fauci, \u2026 grinned as he told CNN that \u201cthe data shows hydroxychloroquine is not an effective treatment<\/a>\u00a0\u2026\u201dReferring to the Surgisphere report:\u00a0\u201cThe scientific data is really quite evident now about the lack of efficacy for it [HCQ],\u201d said Dr. Fauci. (quoted by CNN<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Here is the CNN\u2019s authoritative assessment of Surgisphere\u2019s \u00a0report <\/a>(prior to The Lancet\u2019s Retraction):<\/p>\n

\u201cSeriously ill Covid-19 patients who were treated with hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine were more likely to die or develop dangerous irregular heart rhythms, according to a large observational study [by Surgisphere] published Friday [May 22, 2020] in the medical journal The Lancet<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And Did CNN \u201cretract\u201d its earlier endorsement of \u00a0this \u201cfake scientific study\u201d?\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

Dr. Anthony Fauci <\/strong>who is the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID),<\/strong> has\u00a0from the very outset led the campaign against hydroxychloroquine<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>(largely on behalf of Big Pharma) invoking similar \u201cscientific arguments\u201d against HCQ, saying categorically there was no cure to COVID-19, and the only solution was the vaccine.<\/p>\n

According to the Spectator:<\/a><\/p>\n

The campaign to destroy hydroxychloroquine has been waged relentlessly, both by competitor pharmaceutical companies and those who want to destroy the US economy to advance their political agenda. It is shocking that it has cost hundreds of thousands of lives and billions of taxpayer dollars. But although the corruption of science for political and\/ or financial gain has become a defining characteristic of our age, it is not a new story.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The publication of the Surgisphere study had an immediate impact: According to the Guardian<\/a>,\u00a0\u201cSurgisphere data led to global trials of hydroxychloroquine for Covid-19 being halted in May, because it appeared to show the drug increased deaths in Covid-19 patients\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cHigher Risks of Death\u201d if you take HCQ, according to the study. In the days following the fake Surgisphere Lancet report on May 22, several countries including Belgium, France, Italy, acted to halt the use of hydroxychloroquine.
