{"id":162769,"date":"2020-06-15T12:00:50","date_gmt":"2020-06-15T11:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/?p=162769"},"modified":"2020-06-14T04:54:46","modified_gmt":"2020-06-14T03:54:46","slug":"godliness-strength-and-grit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/2020\/06\/godliness-strength-and-grit\/","title":{"rendered":"Godliness, Strength and Grit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\">They said it was the Asian century<br \/>\nWith economies booming<br \/>\nDemocratic principles shining<br \/>\nScholarship, education rising<br \/>\nWe see these aspects arising<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The century only a fifth gone<br \/>\nMany efforts still to be done<br \/>\nSeveral years still remain<br \/>\nThe optimist will refrain<br \/>\nFrom disputing the current grain<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The pessimist highlights the coming doom<br \/>\nWhen it will be darkness at noon<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">What about the ordinary citizen<br \/>\nThe poor homeless migrant<br \/>\nWho has lost his status,<br \/>\nHis livelihood in the COVID virus<br \/>\nS\/He will not despair<br \/>\nThey will stand up and share<br \/>\nWhatever little they have to spare<br \/>\nWith the other homeless migrants<br \/>\nWho are their brotheren and sisteren<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">There are examples galore<br \/>\nOf their humanity and more<br \/>\nThey pick the miserables from the street<br \/>\nGive them something to eat<br \/>\nThey push them in their carts<br \/>\nWho thank them in their hearts<br \/>\nThey ride their bicycles or walk<br \/>\nCovering long distances to their home<br \/>\nThe families give hearty welcome<br \/>\nA newborn smiles to see her father home<br \/>\nAs long as they are fit<br \/>\nAnd have strength and grit<br \/>\nThey will not grieve<br \/>\nThey will struggle but thrive<br \/>\nAnd show the world they are alive<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Yes the Asian century belongs to these braves<br \/>\nAnd India\u2019s Vedic thought adds to their strength<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Where do these braves get their strength<br \/>\nIn India along the breadth and its length<br \/>\nA spirit of God head or Parm\u0101tm\u0101 pervades<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">They say that they don\u2019t love God<br \/>\nRather it is God that loves them<br \/>\nBlesses them, soaks them<br \/>\nIn a spirit of Divinity<br \/>\nGodliness and Unity<\/p>\n<p>______________________________________________<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Ravi-P-Bhatia-e1471532294478.jpe\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-70777\" src=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Ravi-P-Bhatia-e1471532294478.jpe\" alt=\"\" width=\"64\" height=\"64\" \/><\/a><\/em><em>Dr Ravi P Bhatia is a member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/\" >TRANSCEND Network for Peace Development Environment<\/a>, an<\/em> <em>educationist, Gandhian scholar and peace researcher.
