3 Sep 2020 – <\/em>A Columbia Journalism Review expose<\/a> reveals that, to control global journalism, Bill Gates has steered over $250 million to the BBC, NPR, NBC, Al Jazeera, ProPublica<\/em>, National Journal<\/em>, The Guardian<\/em>, the New York Times<\/em>, Univision, Medium<\/em>, the Financial Times<\/em>, The Atlantic<\/em>, the Texas Tribune<\/em>, Gannett, Washington Monthly<\/em>, Le Monde<\/em>, Center for Investigative Reporting, Pulitzer Center, National Press Foundation, International Center for Journalists, and a host of other groups. To conceal his influence, Gates also funneled unknown sums via subgrants<\/a> for contracts to other press outlets.<\/p>\n

His press bribes have paid off. During the pandemic, bought and brain-dead news outlets have treated Bill Gates as a public health expert\u2014despite his lack of medical training or regulatory experience.<\/p>\n

Gates also funds an army of independent fact checkers including the Poynter Institute and Gannett<\/a> \u2014which use their fact-checking platforms to \u201csilence detractors\u201d and to \u201cdebunk\u201d as \u201cfalse conspiracy theories\u201d and \u201cmisinformation,\u201d charges that Gates has championed and invested in biometric chips<\/a>, vaccine identification systems<\/a>, satellite surveillance<\/a>, and COVID vaccines<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Gates\u2019s media gifts, says CJR author Tim Schwab, mean that \u201ccritical reporting about the Gates Foundation is rare<\/a>.\u201d The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation declined multiple interview requests from CJR and refused to disclose how much money it has funneled to journalists.<\/p>\n

In 2007, the LA Times published one of the only critical investigations<\/a> on the Gates Foundation, exposing Gates\u2019s holdings in companies that hurt people his foundation claims to help, like industries linked to child labor. Lead reporter Charles Piller, says<\/a>, \u201cThey were unwilling to answer questions and pretty much refused to respond in any sort of way\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

The investigation showed how Gates\u2019s global health funding has steered the world\u2019s aid agenda toward Gates\u2019 personal goals (vaccines<\/a> and GMO crops<\/a>) and away from issues such as emergency preparedness to respond to disease outbreaks, like the Ebola crisis.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve dodged our questions and sought to undermine our coverage,\u201d says freelance journalist Alex Park after investigating the Gates Foundation\u2019s polio vaccine efforts.<\/p>\n
