23 Oct 2020 – <\/em>On the occasion of Galtung\u2019s 90th birthday tomorrow on UN Day, we bring you a conversation he had ten years ago with Riz Khan<\/em> at Aljazeera about his life.<\/p>\n

Johan and co-founder Jan Oberg have been friends and collaborated since 1974 and he\u2019s been a TFF Associate since 1985 when TFF was set up.<\/p>\n

Antonio C. S. Rosa<\/em>, his friend and director of Transcend Media Service (TMS)<\/a> summarizes:<\/p>\n

\u201cJohan in a nutshell \u2013 wrote more than 170 books on peace and related issues<\/em>, 96 as the sole author. More than 40 have been translated into other languages and <\/em>Transcend and Transform<\/a> was translated into 25 languages<\/em>. He has published more than 1500 articles\u00a0and book\u00a0chapters and over 500 Editorials for <\/em>TRANSCEND Media Service.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Of particular importance is Johan Galtung, H\u00e5kan Wiberg and Jan Oberg, Yugoslavia \u2013 What Should Have Been Done?<\/a><\/em> \u2013 a free-to-read blog with about 2000 A4 pages that the three wrote about Yugoslavia before and during the dissolution \u2013 including the criticism, their predictions and their alternative peace plans. Johan Galtung, a professor of peace studies, dr hc mult, is founder of <\/em>TRANSCEND International<\/a> and rector of <\/em>TRANSCEND Peace University<\/a>. <\/em>He was awarded among others the 1987 Right Livelihood Award, known as the Alternative Nobel Peace Prize.<\/em> Galtung\u00a0has mediated in\u00a0over 150 conflicts in more than 150 countries, and written more than 170 books on peace and related issues<\/em>, 96 as the sole author. More than 40 have been translated to other languages, including <\/em>50 Years-100 Peace and Conflict Perspectives<\/a> published by <\/em>TRANSCEND University Press<\/a>. His book, <\/em>Transcend and Transform<\/a>, was translated to 25 languages<\/em>.
