So I write this small poem.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">***********************<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">Getting born in Lahore in undivided India<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">Becoming homeless in Lahore Pakistan<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">Coming from Pakistan in 1947 on bullock cart<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">No home, learning begging for food as an art<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal; min-height: 23.2px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">Moving from Moga to Delhi the following year<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">Again homeless, move from one hutment to another<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">Get admission in a reputed Christian school<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">Without knowing a word of any English carol<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal; min-height: 23.2px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">Move to Karol Bagh, a new locality<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">Making friends, what a kind fraternity\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">Father buys me a beautiful new bicycle\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">School distance no problem on my cycle<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal; min-height: 23.2px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">Learn how to play harmonium\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">Play some beautiful tunes on them<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">Feel happy even without any opium<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">Makes the day pass away easily\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">Even with no Refrigerator, Radio or TV<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal; min-height: 23.2px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">Today more than half a century later<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">With TV and all the electric gadgetry\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">And a wife who makes tea once a day<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">but listens to religious gospels all day<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">Time hangs heavy on one\u2019s soul<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">Look out before one falls into a hole<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal; min-height: 23.2px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-stretch: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #454545;\">So write your obituary about your life\u2019s role<\/span><\/p>\n<p>______________________________________________<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Ravi-P.-Bhatia-150x150-1-e1596524021103.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-166069\" src=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Ravi-P.-Bhatia-150x150-1-e1596524021103.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a><\/em><em>Dr Ravi P Bhatia is a member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/\" >TRANSCEND Network for Peace Development Environment<\/a>, an<\/em> <em>educationist, Gandhian scholar and peace researcher.
