25 Oct 2020 – <\/em>Today is Vijay Dashmi or Dashehra symbolising victory of Good over Evil on the return of Lord Ram from his exile. I am feeling lonely. So I write this small poem.<\/div>\n

Getting born in Lahore in undivided India<\/span><\/p>\n

Becoming homeless in Lahore Pakistan<\/span><\/p>\n

Coming from Pakistan in 1947 on bullock cart<\/span><\/p>\n

No home, learning begging for food as an art<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Moving from Moga to Delhi the following year<\/span><\/p>\n

Again homeless, move from one hutment to another<\/span><\/p>\n

Get admission in a reputed Christian school<\/span><\/p>\n

Without knowing a word of any English carol<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Move to Karol Bagh, a new locality<\/span><\/p>\n

Making friends, what a kind fraternity\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Father buys me a beautiful new bicycle\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

School distance no problem on my cycle<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Learn how to play harmonium\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Play some beautiful tunes on them<\/span><\/p>\n

Feel happy even without any opium<\/span><\/p>\n

Makes the day pass away easily\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Even with no Refrigerator, Radio or TV<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Today more than half a century later<\/span><\/p>\n

With TV and all the electric gadgetry\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And a wife who makes tea once a day<\/span><\/p>\n

but listens to religious gospels all day<\/span><\/p>\n

Time hangs heavy on one\u2019s soul<\/span><\/p>\n

Look out before one falls into a hole<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So write your obituary about your life\u2019s role<\/span><\/p>\n
