People can speak, they can recite poems
\nTwinkle Twinkle little Star<\/em>
\nHow I wonder what you are<\/em>
\nThey can invent new words to tell who they are<\/p>\n

Human languages help people to communicate
\nExpressions, gestures also enable them to relate<\/p>\n

But so many languages make communication difficult
\nNot only\u00a0that, we want our language to flourish
\nBe it English, French, Mandarin, Hindi, Spanish
\nTamil, Malayan, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati
\nAs well as decreasing speakers of Sindhi<\/p>\n

Historically dominant languages were thrust on a captured land
\nAlmost no one to speak one\u2019s tribal language in Australia, New Zealand
\nAlso few speakers of Njerep in Nigeria and Liki in Papua Islands
\nHundreds of tribal tongues, many in India\u2019s Andaman Nicobar Islands<\/p>\n

Animals and birds communicate with one another
\nNo effort at showing who is superior
\nThe animal grunts or barks the same way globally
\nA lion from Africa brought to India, roars similarly<\/p>\n

Elephants rule the roost in African territory
\nBut they are butchered for their ivory<\/p>\n

Horses were brought from other regions to India
\nThey neigh as they did earlier, bringing cheer to all
\nDo they remember their earlier homes \u2014 not at all<\/p>\n

Beautiful green parrots \u2014 can learn human lingo
\nWith other parrots and birds they can do tango
\nBirds fly high and chirp when they come to their nests
\nThey take care of their small chicks, also other birds\u2019 chicks
\nThey feed them, teach them how to fly and do some tricks<\/p>\n

Sparrows and woodpeckers coo coo in lilting manner
\nSo lilting, so musical on the human ear
\nBird songs keep us happy, smiling and chirpy
\nWe must learn from these birds how to live together<\/p>\n
