Typical Day in the Life of People in Myanmar (under Terrorist Siege)<\/h3>\n<p>This evening we had this\u00a0 \u201cguest list\u201d check (by the regime)<br \/>\nThey typically take away the overnight guest (s), whether you report to the regime or not,<br \/>\n(as it is required of all households).<br \/>\nYou are punished either way.<br \/>\nThe regime kills everyday.<br \/>\nEveryone lives with greatest of anxieties and fear.<br \/>\nMoney is not THE issue:\u00a0 those who have more share with those in need.<br \/>\nWe all share communally.<br \/>\nDaily kills by the regime take a huge toll on us.<br \/>\nWe all stare at the calendar anticipating the day we may all be delivered from this fear-stricken existence.<br \/>\nWe pray for everyone who dares to join the protest movement.<br \/>\nBut the news of their murder hits home hard, leaving no appetite for meals.<br \/>\nOne\u2019s mind can\u2019t help but wonder\u00a0\u201cwhen is my turn?\u201d<br \/>\nEveryday being alive is full of meaning and everyday feels like a life time now.<br \/>\nOur lives are like in a living hell.<br \/>\nEven death is not peaceful as the regime harvest organs of our deads.<br \/>\nThose in diaspora tell us \u201cto hang in there.\u201d<br \/>\nWell, we typically grit our teeth<br \/>\nbut it is as though we were readying for our turns (to be murdered).<br \/>\nOne Day in a member of the <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/\" >TRANSCEND Network for Peace Development Environment<\/a><em>, former Visiting Lecturer with Harvard Medical School, specializing in racism and violence in Burma and Sri Lanka, and Non-resident Scholar in Genocide Studies with Documentation Center \u2013 Cambodia.\u00a0Zarni s the co-founder of <\/em><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/forsea.co\/\" >FORSEA<\/a><em>, a grass-roots organization of Southeast Asian human rights defenders, coordinator for Strategic Affairs for <\/em>Free Rohingya Coalition,<em> and an adviser to the <\/em>European Centre for the Study of Extremism<em>, Cambridge<strong>. <\/strong>Zarni holds a PhD (U Wisconsin at Madison) and a MA (U California), and has held various teaching, research and visiting fellowships at the universities in Asia, Europe and USA including Oxford, LSE, UCL Institute of Education, National-Louis, Malaya, and Brunei. He is the recipient of the &#8220;Cultivation of Harmony&#8221; award from the Parliament of the World&#8217;s Religions (2015). His analyses have appeared in leading newspapers including the <\/em>New York Times, The Guardian <em>and<\/em> the Times<em>.
