2 Aug 2021 – A poem written by a young Rohingya poet, from Rakhine state, living in Rangoon.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Stand by the innocent people
\nwho are seeking peace
\nStand for the refugee, people
\nwho are seeking freedom
\nIt\u2019s not because we are a minority
\nbut because we are a people, your fellow humans.
\nWe don\u2019t get
\nadequate shelter to live
\nsufficient meals to eat
\nenough clean water to drink
\nJust because we are Rohingyas.<\/p>\n

For Rohingyas, Refugees,
\nno school to enroll
\nno teacher to teach
\nno work to hold
\nno permit to go anywhere
\nWhat can we do in this prison called the Earth?<\/p>\n

Being Rohingya Refugees,
\nNo book to call our own
\nNo book read for my education
\nNo pen to write my black scarp
\nWhat we are facing day-to-day
\nNo paper to draw up our new plans
\nNo path to realize our goals
\nWhat kind of fucking life is this \u2013 for us?<\/p>\n

Being Rohingya Refugees,
\nNo solidarity hand to wipe my tears
\nWhen they form a great ocean
\nStill, no one hears our cries
\nBut crying again and again
\nJust to save my dignity.<\/p>\n

Being Rohingya Refugees,
\nNo government to defend us
\nEvery government accepts our genocide \u2013 any genocide
\nNo people understand our inner pains
\nNo world supports our going home.<\/p>\n

Being Rohingya Refugees,
\nNo decent clothes to wear
\nNo health care nor cure for physical illnesses.
\nRefugees resort to paracetamol
\nWhat a fucking life of ours!<\/p>\n

Being Rohingya Refugees,
\nIs there no Law for us?
\nAren\u2019t there Refugee Conventions?
\nWhy are we made to endure GENOCIDE,
\nAgain and again and again?
\nWhy are we made, for decades, to wait for Justice, a safe place of our own.
\nWhile our home country government make us
\nExist in IDP camps?
\nWe too are H-U-M-A-N-S like you all
\nBut denied humane treatment.
\nWhy\u2026.. Why\u2026..And Why?
\nBeing \u00a0Rohingyas?
\nStill seeking justice and a place we can call Home.<\/p>\n
