{"id":195528,"date":"2021-10-18T12:00:53","date_gmt":"2021-10-18T11:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/?p=195528"},"modified":"2021-09-21T04:27:27","modified_gmt":"2021-09-21T03:27:27","slug":"the-moon-and-the-stars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/2021\/10\/the-moon-and-the-stars\/","title":{"rendered":"The Moon and the Stars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>A Poem on our Cosmos<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Moon is our beautiful satellite<br \/>\nIt changes its appearance for us<br \/>\nFrom new moon to the full \u2014 called the Full Moon Night<br \/>\nThe Moon has been a source of learning and delight<\/p>\n<p>Learning for the intelligent folks<br \/>\nIt helps them maintain the fortnightly calendar<br \/>\nDelight and joy for the lovers among us<br \/>\nThey sing songs; express their love for each other<\/p>\n<p>The Earth itself goes around the Sun<br \/>\nIt is called a planet of the Sun<br \/>\nAstronomers\u00a0discover new planets<br \/>\nLatest one called\u00a0<em>Planet Nine<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Stars \u2014 there are billions of them high above in the sky<br \/>\nThey shine; they radiate charm and beauty like a sweet pie<br \/>\nDespite being so far away from us \u2014 so many light years away<br \/>\nA light year \u2014 the distance that light takes to cover in a year<\/p>\n<p>The brightest star known as\u00a0<strong><em>Sirius<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nKeeps shining above us<br \/>\nWe used to sing<em>\u00a0Twinkle twinkle little star<\/em><br \/>\n<em>How I wonder what you are<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Countless stars but a few recognisable like the Pole Star<br \/>\nHigh above the North Pole and remaining unmoving there<br \/>\nThe star that helped fearless men to navigate the Seas<br \/>\nDisplaying bravery and\u00a0fortitude<br \/>\nThey expressed their gratitude<br \/>\nTo their God, the winds and the Star<br \/>\nThat helped them reach lands afar<\/p>\n<p>Can we think of a world without the Moon and the Stars?<br \/>\nWe cannot, we would become lifeless without them<br \/>\nEven when there are clouds that hide them<br \/>\nWe remember them, bask in their beauty, sing to them<br \/>\n______________________________________________<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Ravi-P.-Bhatia-150x150-1-e1596524021103.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-166069\" src=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Ravi-P.-Bhatia-150x150-1-e1596524021103.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a>Dr Ravi P Bhatia is a member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/\" >TRANSCEND Network for Peace Development Environment<\/a>, an<\/em> <em>educationist, Gandhian scholar and peace researcher.
