When the nukes start flying,
\nwhen we see the mushroom cloud growing on the horizon,
\nwhen reality comes crashing down in the most overt way possible,
\nwhen the realization slowly dawns that this really is the end,
\nnone of our old stuff will matter anymore.<\/p>\n

It will not matter if you are American, Russian or Chinese.
\nIt will not matter if your skin is darker or lighter.
\nIt will not matter if you feel like a man or a woman or both or neither.
\nIt will not matter if your politics are left, right or center.
\nIt will not matter who you voted for.
\nAll that will matter, in that final moment,
\nis that it is ending.<\/p>\n

We will behold that final moment
\nstanding alongside progressives and conservatives,
\nracists and radlibs,
\nsocialists and soldiers,
\ncommunists and cops,
\nand all our irreconcilable differences
\nwill suddenly dissolve into nothing.<\/p>\n

Against the suddenly visible backdrop of total annihilation,
\nthe existence of any human anywhere is a miracle,
\nand the existence of life on this planet is a priceless gift.
\nWe won\u2019t even care whose fault it was,
\nwhether it was deliberate or accidental,
\nor whether it was the result of some malfunction, miscommunication, or misunderstanding.
\nAll we will care about is that it is ending.<\/p>\n

And in that final moment we will hug our loved ones tight,
\nwhether we are Christian or atheist,
\nJew or Arab,
\nIndian or Pakistani,
\nanti-vaxxer or Antifa.<\/p>\n

And in that final moment we will say,
\nin our heart of hearts,
\nwith our innermost voices,
\n\u201cOh, I see it now!
\nI see how easy it is to stand together!
\nI see how small our differences are compared to this great commonality!
\nI see where we went wrong,
\nand how very easy it would be to fix it!\u201d<\/p>\n

And in that final moment we will say,
\n\u201cWe see it now!
\nWe see the mistakes we made,
\nand made and made and kept on making!
\nWe understand our fundamental error!
\nJust give us one do-over and we can correct it immediately!
\nCould we have a do-over please?
\nCould we have a do-over please?\u201d<\/p>\n

In that final moment,
\nwe will ask,
\n\u201cCould we have a do-over please?\u201d<\/p>\n
