30 Mar 2022 – I first saw Dylan Morgan’s painting a couple of months ago. The recent horrors of the War in Ukraine have opened old wounds and whipped me back to confront the stalking “strong men”–on their side and ours–and to weep with the mothers of shattered children. I hope artists everywhere–in whatever medium–will take a stand against the insanity of inhumanity.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Putin!\u00a0 Putin!<\/p>\n

There\u2019s really no disputin\u2019!<\/p>\n

You\u2019re a liar and a louse
\nAnd you look just like a mouse!
\nGet out of our House!<\/p>\n

This House we call \u201cEarth\u201d!
\nThat\u2019s ours from our birth!<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t kill the babies
\nWith your kind of rabies!<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve been thru this before\u2014
\nThis plague we call \u201cWar\u201d!<\/p>\n

The generals praise\u2026
\nWhile Earth rots and decays!<\/p>\n

The children are crying\u2026
\nWhile their parents are dying!<\/p>\n

Can you hear?\u00a0 Do you dare?<\/p>\n

Get off your high horse!
\nGet down in the mud
\nWith the stink and the blood!
\nTalk\u2019s better than force!<\/p>\n

No dream of yore
\nIs worth all the gore!<\/p>\n

Who made you Czar?
\nThe thought is bizarre!<\/p>\n

Not only you,
\nBut the whole primping crew\u2014<\/p>\n

In your land, their land\u2026
\n\u201cTheir land\u201d and \u201cmine\u201d
\nThey can\u2019t seem to shine
\nA light in the mine
\nFor children to follow!<\/p>\n

Are we really so hollow?<\/p>\n

Are we really so crass\u2014
\nWith aplomb up our ass?<\/p>\n

Tolstoy, Chekhov, Mandelstam, Keats,
\nAkhmatova, Shakespeare, Tagore and Yeats,
\nLao Tzu and Owen, Dickinson, Frost\u2026<\/p>\n

And so many more
\nCry thru the ages:<\/p>\n

\u201cNot to get lost!
\nFollow the sages:
\nEnd endless War!\u201d<\/p>\n

2.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Putin!\u00a0 Putin!<\/p>\n

No more disputin\u2019!<\/p>\n

The plank in our eyes
\nWon\u2019t help us disguise
\nThe splinters in others\u2019
\nWe sometimes call \u201cbrothers.\u201d<\/p>\n

7 decades and more
\nAfter nuclear gore
\nAnd we couldn\u2019t imagine
\nA world without war!<\/p>\n

We also lied
\nFor the sake of the Throne
\nWe claimed as our own\u2014<\/p>\n

The Power to Judge
\nWho lived and who died!
\nIt\u2019s time to move on!
\nFor all children\u2019s sake\u2014<\/p>\n

Grow up and move on!
\nForever forsake<\/p>\n
