(Photo: Maung Zarni)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Stolac is the oldest town in Bosnia and Herzegovena or Hercegovina \u2013 with the trace of human settlement of 15,000 years and boasts 30 national \u2013 that is, historic \u2013 buildings and monuments. Nestled in between the surrounding mountains, the town of 10,000 Bosnian and Croatian residents, has witnessed \u2013 and lived through \u2013 various hands of occupiers, including the Romans, the Ottoman Turks, the Austro-Hungarians, the combined Fascist forces of Nazi-Germany, Fascist-Italy and Croatian. I saw several generations of Bosnians and former Yugoslav citizens came to pay their tribute to Resistance leader Tito and his comrades. \" data-medium-file=\"https:\/\/forsea.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Valerija-Sjec\u0301anje-from-Slovenia-300x216.png\" data-large-file=\"https:\/\/forsea.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Valerija-Sjec\u0301anje-from-Slovenia.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-7116\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Valerija Sje\u0107anje from Slovenia<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>My second interviewee was <a href=\"https:\/\/radiosarajevo.ba\/amp\/metromahala\/lica\/valerija-94-odlazak-u-partizane-bio-je-jedini-castan-izbor\/451151\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Valerija Sje\u0107anje<\/a> from Slovenia, who made a very pointed observation that Fascism is rearing its head again, as the old Fascist ideas are popping up in new incarnations and manifestations \u2013 as Far-Right Populist ideologies.<\/p>\n<p>Valerija is no ordinary elderly lady, simply recalling the horrors of the Fascist past. She said, with justified pride, \u201cI was only months past my 15th birthday when I joined the Yugoslav Partisans,\u201d referring to Tito-led anti-Fascist People\u2019s Liberation Movement against the occupying Nazis. He is the recipient of the &#8220;Cultivation of Harmony&#8221; award from the Parliament of the World&#8217;s Religions (2015).
