Which five?<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When one gives birth to hatred for an individual, one should develop good will for that individual. Thus the hatred for that individual should be subdued.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When one gives birth to hatred for an individual, one should develop compassion for that individual&#8230; equanimity toward that individual&#8230; one should pay him no mind and pay him no attention&#8230; When one gives birth to hatred for an individual, one should direct one&#8217;s thoughts to the fact of his being the product of his karma: &#8216;This venerable one is the doer of his karma, heir of his karma, born of his karma, related by his karma, and is dependent on his karma. Whatever karma he does, for good or for evil, to that will he fall heir.&#8217; Thus the hatred for that individual should be subdued.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These are five ways of subduing hatred by which, when hatred arises in a monk, he should wipe it out completely.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>______________________________________<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>The purpose of this website is to propagate Buddha Dharma to the whole world. As we all know that this is the Dharma-Ending age, Buddhism is getting weaker whereas our worldly desires grow stronger. As said before by Shakyamuni Buddha (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/buddhasutra.com\/files\/scripture_preached_by_the_buddha.htm\" >Scripture Preached by the Buddha on the Total Extinction of the Dharma<\/a>), in this Dharma-Ending age all Buddhist-Sutras will disappear slowly one by one, starting with <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/buddhasutra.com\/files\/shurangama_sutra.htm\" >Shurangama Sutra<\/a> and the last one to be <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/buddhasutra.com\/files\/infinite_life_sutra.htm\" >Amitabha Infinite Life Sutra<\/a>.
