{"id":217612,"date":"2022-09-05T12:00:39","date_gmt":"2022-09-05T11:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/?p=217612"},"modified":"2022-08-05T09:22:54","modified_gmt":"2022-08-05T08:22:54","slug":"living-peacefully-in-the-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/2022\/09\/living-peacefully-in-the-world\/","title":{"rendered":"Living Peacefully in the World"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>Our Mounting Needs Are Spoiling the Environment<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Oh my God, I am a small individual<br \/>\nBut with needs that are large and huge<br \/>\nI feel pain, and so I call you often<br \/>\nI feel it is my duty solemn<br \/>\nBe it morning, be it day, be it night<br \/>\nBe it dry or be it rainy and wet<\/p>\n<p>You wonder whether I am calling you<br \/>\nOr your many cousins to quench my pain<br \/>\nBe it hot and dry or be it rain<br \/>\nYou are\u00a0<strong><em>Devta<\/em><\/strong>\u2014 the kind and gracious God (<strong>Dev<\/strong>)<br \/>\nWith your cousins <em>Agnidev, Varunde<\/em>v,\u00a0<em>Pavandev<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Agnidev \u2014 the God of Fire<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Pavandev \u2014 the God of Breeze<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Varundev \u2014\u00a0the God of Rain<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Indradev\u2014 twin of\u00a0Varundev<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>You know when people call you or your cousins<br \/>\nHow do you come to know the needs of people<br \/>\nPeoples\u2019 minds are complex, complicated<br \/>\nTheir needs difficult, their desires fascinated<\/p>\n<p>No problem\u00a0you say<br \/>\nWhen it is cold, people call\u00a0<em>Agnidev<\/em>\u00a0to keep warm<br \/>\nWhen dry, bad for crops, they call\u00a0<em>Varundev<\/em><br \/>\nOr his twin\u00a0<em>Indradev<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0to get some rain<br \/>\nFor some breeze, people will invite\u00a0<em>Pavandev<\/em><\/p>\n<p>But what happens when they don\u2019t know whom to call<br \/>\nThen the Head of the Gods \u2014\u00a0\u00a0<strong><em>Devta<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<em>c<\/em>omes to help<br \/>\nBoth humanity and the animal world<br \/>\n<em>Devta<\/em>\u00a0is gracious, kind to the world<\/p>\n<p>These days with people spoiling, destroying our environment<br \/>\nSome countries having nuclear armament<br \/>\nEven\u00a0<strong><em>Devta<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0has difficulty maintaining peace by his presence<br \/>\nAnd preventing the mounting decadence<\/p>\n<p>So my friends, know how people are spoiling the environment<br \/>\nAnd bothering the Gods by their needs<br \/>\nLimit your desires and your needs<br \/>\nAnd live peacefully in this, the only world we have<\/p>\n<p>______________________________________________<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Ravi-P.-Bhatia-150x150-1-e1596524021103.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-166069\" src=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Ravi-P.-Bhatia-150x150-1-e1596524021103.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a> Dr Ravi P Bhatia is a member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/\" >TRANSCEND Network for Peace Development Environment<\/a>, an<\/em> <em>educationist, Gandhian scholar and peace researcher.
