They lie to us all our lives about what soldiers do,
\nabout what cops do,
\nabout what journalists do,
\nabout what presidents do.<\/p>\n

They lie to us all our lives about how laws are made,
\nabout how kings are made,
\nabout how culture is made,
\nabout how norms are made.<\/p>\n

They lie to us all our lives about what our minds are for,
\nabout what our hearts are for,
\nabout what our neighbors are for,
\nabout what foreigners are for.<\/p>\n

The world is confusing
\nand they make it more confusing,
\non purpose,
\nbecause they thrive in confusion,
\nand now we watch as the world turns to ashes
\ncarried on the back of confusion
\nmade by news men and corporate creatures who eat ashes.<\/p>\n

And we stumble in confusion,
\neyes darting behind lenses made of confusion,
\ntrying to understand with minds made of confusion,
\ntrying to feel our way through with hearts shackled by confusion.
\nSearching for an angel egg we know is there
\nbut can\u2019t seem to find
\nbecause who turned out the goddamn lights?
\nAnd why can\u2019t I figure out which way is up?
\nAnd oop off we go chasing distractions again
\nfor the next news cycle
\nthe next election cycle
\nthe next spin cycle
\nthe next amnesia cycle.<\/p>\n

They lie to us all our lives,
\nand then when we catch them in a lie they just say,
\nOh, the person who gave you that information is bad,
\nor,
\nOh, that came from Russian hackers,
\nor,
\nWe made a mistake but we don\u2019t do that anymore,
\nor,
\nDon\u2019t be a conspiracy theorist,
\nor,
\nHey! Look over there!
\nor,
\nWe already knew that, it\u2019s no big deal.<\/p>\n

And then everyone forgets,
\nand the confusion churns on.<\/p>\n

But the angel egg is there in our mind\u2019s eye,
\nin our heart of hearts,
\nhaunting our dreams,
\ncalling us home,
\nthe embryo holding our original eyes
\nfor whenever we are ready to claim them.<\/p>\n

They lie to us all our lives about what our country is,
\nabout what our government is,
\nabout what money is,
\nabout what nature is.<\/p>\n

They lie to us all our lives about where the answers are,
\nabout where our friends are,
\nabout where our enemies are,
\nabout where our claws are.<\/p>\n

They lie to us all our lives,
\nand they make the world confusing,
\nand beneath that confusion we are watching them
\nwith our original eyes,
\nwith our primal eyes,
\nwith our natural eyes,
\nwith our uncivilized eyes.<\/p>\n

Watching them,
\nlike lions watching a gazelle,
\nand waiting,
\nwith primordial patience,
\nuntil it is time
\nto make our move.<\/p>\n
