Look with nature\u2019s eyes,
\nwith atomic eyes,
\nwith Eden eyes,
\nwith primordial eyes.<\/p>\n

Stand on nature\u2019s feet,
\non terrestrial feet,
\non stardust feet,
\non Big Bang feet.<\/p>\n

Touch with nature\u2019s hands,
\nwith sapling hands,
\nwith reverent hands,
\nwith unprecedented hands.<\/p>\n

Think with nature\u2019s mind,
\nwith undomesticated mind,
\nwith wild mind,
\nwith ineffable mind.<\/p>\n

Let trees erupt from your cells.
\nRelease the bats from their cages in your skull.
\nThis is the place where scriptures and doctrines turn to gum leaves
\nand we can\u2019t remember what was written on them
\nbut we marvel at their beauty.<\/p>\n

Let the stillness teach us how to move.
\nLet the spaces between our thoughts teach us how to think.
\nWe are humble students of the great Emptiness
\nupon which this universe has been scribbled
\nby a baby god
\nin crayon.<\/p>\n

The baby\u2019s laughter echoes through our caverns
\nand withers our precious minarets
\nand turns our manifestos into tadpoles,
\nbouncing innocently and nonjudgmentally off all our houses of cards
\nand going burbling down the stream
\nwhile our empires implode behind it.<\/p>\n

And now here we stand
\nwith crumbling egos on a dying planet
\nsurrounded by frogs the size of Volkswagens,
\nthe size of skyscrapers,
\nthe size of moons.
\nThis is a strange, strange place,
\nand it is only getting stranger,
\nand none of the tools in our toolbox are fit for the job.<\/p>\n

I have buried my old toolbox in the backyard
\nwith a horse\u2019s placenta and a box of Time magazines.
\nA tree now grows there which has leaves that drip oil
\nand fruit which tastes like the Reagan administration.<\/p>\n

Those old tools have no use here.
\nI walk away from them,
\non nature\u2019s feet,
\ninto the hatching of this new world.<\/p>\n
