Her starchy\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0veil, inside chiffon: the stone in her<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0ring, like her eyes, one hand on<\/em><br \/>\n<em>her snow leopard wrap, the fur widely<\/em><br \/>\n<em>dotted with black. It could be a vignette\u2014<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0a replica, framed oval\u2014<\/em><br \/>\n<em>bordered by a vine or a vinelet.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Or give a mere flower, said to mean the<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0love of truth or truth of<\/em><br \/>\n<em>love\u2014in other words, a violet.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Verse\u2014unabashedly bold\u2014is appropriate;<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and always it should be as neat<\/em><br \/>\n<em>as the most careful writer\u2019s \u20188,\u2019<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Any valentine that is written\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Is as the\u00a0vendange\u00a0to the vine.\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Might verse not best confuse itself with fate?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8212; Marianne Moore<\/p>\n<p><em>__________________________________________<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/richard-falk.png\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-67759\" src=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/richard-falk.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"123\" height=\"123\" \/><\/a>Richard Falk is a member of the <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/\" ><strong><em>TRANSCEND Network<\/em><\/strong><\/a><em>, Albert G. Milbank Professor Emeritus of International Law at Princeton University, Chair of Global Law, Faculty of Law, at Queen Mary University London,\u00a0 Research Associate the Orfalea Center of Global Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and Fellow of the Tellus Institute. He directed the project on Global Climate Change, Human Security, and Democracy at UCSB and formerly served as director the North American group in the World Order Models Project. Between 2008 and 2014, Falk served as UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Occupied Palestine. His book,\u00a0<\/em>(Re)Imagining Humane Global Governance<em>\u00a0(2014), proposes a value-oriented assessment of world order and future trends.
