Sadly, for hours we are seeped into darkness.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Can this world be a home?<br \/>\nA place for the lost.?<\/p>\n<p>Sadly there\u2019s a fight for power<br \/>\nAt any cost.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s a savage tool<br \/>\nIt\u2019s heartless and appalling<br \/>\nReveries of revenge and an obsession to rule.<br \/>\nSad attempts to lionise and romanticise.<br \/>\nSo much of politics, propaganda and no perception<br \/>\nOnly lies, manipulation and deception.<br \/>\nIs it a testing of moral tolerance ?<br \/>\nOr is someone fanning the flames of extremes?<br \/>\nWe see through your misguided arrogance.<br \/>\nHas ominous echoes of inciting violence and pain<br \/>\nOur beautiful land cannot burn again.<br \/>\nLook around and see the strife\u2026<br \/>\nCorruption, chaos, catastrophe is so rife.<br \/>\nPoliticians and presidents fight for power<br \/>\nHumans just want light and no more darkness.<br \/>\nHow do we keep the lights on?<\/p>\n<p>The jaws and claws of darkness creates fear<br \/>\nThere\u2019s no power here\u2026<br \/>\nIt\u2019s deep fear<br \/>\nThe government has made it clear.<br \/>\nWhen will there be brightness???<br \/>\nPerhaps in the distant future.<br \/>\nTill then.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s just a pretty picture.<\/p>\n<p>_____________________________________<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Usha-Roopnarain-e1623990401501.jpeg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-186568\" src=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Usha-Roopnarain-e1623990401501.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a>Dr Usha Roopnarain \u2013 Former parliamentarian in the National Assembly of South Africa, social activist and passionate about human rights and gender equality.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>25 Mar 2023 &#8211; Poem written about the severe energy crisis\/ load shedding in South Africa.
