He is Professor Emeritus at the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco where he is active in the Dom H\u00e9lder Camara Human Rights Commission. He is a co-founder of ABA Global Education, one of the pioneers in Linguistic Rights (author of 1984 <\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Plea for a Universal Declaration of Linguistic Rights)<\/span><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i> and in the emerging area of Peace Linguistics.
