Violently coercing someone into doing something and ensuring that they\u2019ll die if they don\u2019t do it is the exact opposite of what the word \u201cvoluntary\u201d means. <\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

2 Jan 2024<\/em> – Israeli officials are now openly admitting that they\u2019re working on \u201cencouraging\u201d the migration of Palestinians from Gaza, ridiculously claiming that this migration would be \u201cvoluntary\u201d despite their having deliberately made the enclave uninhabitable<\/a> over the last three months.<\/p>\n

The Times of Israel reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n

\u201cPrime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu\u2019s two senior far-right partners endorsed the rebuilding of settlements in the Gaza Strip and the encouraging of \u201cvoluntary emigration\u201d of Palestinians on Monday, while hawkish opposition MK Avigdor Liberman called for Israel to reoccupy southern Lebanon.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cSpeaking during their parties\u2019 respective faction meetings in the Knesset, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich presented the migration of Palestinian civilians as a solution to the long-running conflict and as a prerequisite for securing the stability necessary to allow residents of southern Israel to return to their homes.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cThe war presents an \u2018opportunity to concentrate on encouraging the migration of the residents of Gaza,\u2019 Ben Gvir told reporters and members of his far-right Otzma Yehudit party, calling such a policy \u2018a correct, just, moral and humane solution.\u2019<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201c\u2018We cannot withdraw from any territory we are in in the Gaza Strip. Not only do I not rule out Jewish settlement there, I believe it is also an important thing,\u2019 he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cThe \u2018correct solution\u2019 to the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict is \u2018to encourage the voluntary migration of Gaza\u2019s residents to countries that will agree to take in the refugees,\u2019 Smotrich told members of his Religious Zionism party, predicting that \u2018Israel will permanently control the territory of the Gaza Strip,\u2019 including through the establishment of settlements.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
