Seriously, imagine it. Imagine the rage and vitriol. Imagine the nonstop media coverage.<\/p>\n<p>When Russia invaded Ukraine, US media coverage of that war <a href=\"https:\/\/responsiblestatecraft.org\/2022\/04\/08\/networks-covered-the-war-in-ukraine-more-than-the-us-invasion-of-iraq\/\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">exceeded the media coverage<\/a> of all <strong><em>US wars<\/em><\/strong> in the previous three decades. If Russia were deliberately and systematically exterminating civilians in Ukraine or anywhere else, the western media coverage of those war crimes would be many times more.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s almost clich\u00e9 at this point to say \u201cimagine if Russia or China did this\u201d, but such comparisons are important for retaining a sense of perspective on just how evil the western political-media class is being about Gaza right now. We\u2019re seeing articles come out in the mass media about starvation in Gaza which <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AssalRad\/status\/1772862382462636150\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">never once even mention the word \u201cIsrael\u201d<\/a>. Do you think that would be happening if this were being perpetrated by a government which defies the western empire? Of course not.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">An entire Economist article on famine in Gaza doesn\u2019t say the word \u201cIsrael\u201d once. Not even when describing damage to farmland and water facilities or severely restricted aid deliveries.<\/p>\n<p>Saying *who* is destroying the farmland and restricting aid seems like basic info to include. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Z6fBtmc0Bp\" >pic.twitter.com\/Z6fBtmc0Bp<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Assal Rad (@AssalRad) <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AssalRad\/status\/1772862382462636150?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" >March 27, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Imagine how the western political-media class would be acting if Russia or China was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2024\/feb\/27\/un-israel-food-starvation-palestinians-war-crime-genocide\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">deliberately blockading food<\/a> from an imprisoned population of millions of people.<\/p>\n<p>Imagine how the western political-media class would be acting if Russia or China was relentlessly raining military explosives on densely packed urban areas known to be full of children.<\/p>\n<p>Imagine how the western political-media class would be acting if Russia or China was deliberately and methodically <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caitlinjohnst.one\/p\/theyre-calling-ethnic-cleansing-voluntary\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ethnically cleansing<\/a> an oppressed population for entirely racist reasons.<\/p>\n<p>Imagine how the western political-media class would be acting if evidence that Russia or China are committing horrific war crimes was surfacing on a daily basis.<\/p>\n<p>Imagine how the western political-media class would be acting if Russia or China were getting caught in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenation.com\/article\/world\/israel-gaza-propaganda-biden\/\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lie after lie after lie<\/a> while carrying out such a mass atrocity.<\/p>\n<p>Imagine how the western political-media class would be acting if Russia or China tried to present them with <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/dwzue\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">blatantly fabricated evidence<\/a> of crimes committed by the targeted population in justification of their atrocities.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019d be living in a different political and media landscape. If Russia or China was doing what Israel is doing, entire presidential campaigns would have been built around who would oppose it most aggressively. Every sanction and embargo in the book would have been slammed upon the perpetrating government. The western press would be falling all over themselves to expose every atrocity and every lie and blaring those expositions as feature stories on every platform for months, and showering one another with awards for doing so.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">StateSpox was asked about UN Special Rapporteur <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FranceskAlbs?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" >@FranceskAlbs<\/a>\u2019s report on Gaza which said there\u2019s reasonable ground that the threshold for genocide has been met.<\/p>\n<p>Miller said they oppose mandate of this rapporteur, accused her of antisemitism and rejected allegations of genocide. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/R7s79FjYCQ\" >pic.twitter.com\/R7s79FjYCQ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Assal Rad (@AssalRad) <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AssalRad\/status\/1773039432867749927?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" >March 27, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Instead we get this. Government officials babbling nonstop about Israel\u2019s \u201cright\u201d to \u201cdefend itself\u201d and how this would all be over if Hamas didn\u2019t keep fighting, while showering Israel with weapons to help it continue its atrocities. The mass media churning out a constant deluge of passive-language \u201cGazans are having trouble finding food for some reason\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caitlinjohnst.one\/p\/its-journalistic-malpractice-to-say\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">headlines<\/a> and continuous reminders that this is all happening because of October 7, while <a href=\"https:\/\/theintercept.com\/2024\/02\/28\/new-york-times-anat-schwartz-october-7\/\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">repeating Israeli atrocity propaganda<\/a> like it\u2019s gospel truth. All viable US presidential candidates vowing their unconditional support for Israel while occasionally impotently finger-wagging at this or that aspect of Israel\u2019s atrocities to avoid looking like complete psychopaths.<\/p>\n<p>That contrast between how the western political-media class is acting toward the Gaza <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/cJv03\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">genocide<\/a> and how we all know they\u2019d be acting if an unaligned government was doing something similar is exactly why the US-centralized empire cannot be permitted to rule our world anymore. It pretends to stand for peace, justice, freedom and democracy, but in reality it just inflicts nonstop death and suffering upon human beings around the world and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.caitlinjohnst.one\/p\/the-empire-doesnt-hide-its-worst\" >covers it up with propaganda spin<\/a> from its servile mainstream press. It purports to uphold the \u201crules-based international order\u201d, but all that means in practice is that it upholds an international order in which the US empire makes up the rules as it goes along and changes them as it pleases.<\/p>\n<p>Humanity cannot allow itself to be abused and tyrannized by this murderous, hypocritical globe-spanning power structure any longer.
