{"id":2596,"date":"2009-07-11T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2009-07-11T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/wordpress\/2009\/07\/rabbis-declare-fast-for-gaza\/"},"modified":"2009-07-11T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2009-07-11T00:00:00","slug":"rabbis-declare-fast-for-gaza","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/2009\/07\/rabbis-declare-fast-for-gaza\/","title":{"rendered":"RABBIS DECLARE FAST FOR GAZA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over the past few weeks, I have been privileged to work closely with Rabbi Brant Rosen and&nbsp; several rabbinic colleagues developing a campaign to break the silence in the Jewish community on the issue of Gaza.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>I am very pleased to invite you to participate in Taanit Tzedek-Jewish Fast for Gaza, the campaign that we launched yesterday [Jul 9 09].&nbsp; This is the first rabbinical response to the suffering in Gaza.&nbsp; Although rabbis have taken the lead in this initiative, we invite all Jews, all people of faith and all people of conscience to join us.<\/p>\n<p>To read more about the project and to sign on as a participant, please visit our website: <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fastforgaza.net\" >www.fastforgaza.net<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I want to&nbsp; acknoweldge the extraordinary vision and courage of my colleague, Rabbi Brant Rosen.&nbsp; Rabbi Rosen was, in my opinion, the most courageous rabbi in America during the Gaza war.&nbsp; On his blog and in many public settings, Rabbi Rosen, a brilliant congregational rabbi,&nbsp; spoke the truth about the war at a time when there were just a handful of&nbsp; rabbis&nbsp; in America who said a word about the incredible suffering inflicted on the Palestinian people.&nbsp; He upheld the Jewish commitment to menshlichkeyt\/human decency at&nbsp; a time of moral crisis.&nbsp;&nbsp; Rabbi Rosen attempted to organize a public&nbsp; rabbinic response to the war, but the effort was unsuccessful.<\/p>\n<p>It has been so inspiring to join him now as&nbsp; co-coordinator of the&nbsp; first public rabbinic response to Israel&rsquo;s immoral&nbsp; collective punishment of all the residents of Gaza.<\/p>\n<p>I hope you join the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/fastforgaza.net\/\" >campaign<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Please share this widely with friends, colleagues, press contacts and people in your community who may be interested.<br \/><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/rabbibrian.wordpress.com\/\" ><br \/>GO TO ORIGINAL &ndash; RABBIBRIAN<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(<em>Join the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions)<\/em> campaign toprotest the Israeli barbaric siege of Gaza, illegal occupation ofPalestine, the apartheid wall, and its inhuman and degrading treatmentof the Palestinian people: <strong>DON&#8217;T BUY<\/strong> products whose <font color=\"#ff0000\"><strong>BARCODE<\/strong><\/font> starts with <font color=\"#ff0000\"><strong>7 2 9<\/strong><\/font>, which indicates that it is produced in Israel. <strong>DO YOUR PART!
