While joining the nation in its fight against Polio Eradication from South Asia, Rotary Club of Darhal Malikan engaged female Madrassa<\/i> students in polio vaccination programme here on Sunday [24 Feb 2013].<\/p>\n
The club in collaboration with J&K Health Department involved female students of Madrassa Gulshan<\/i> Dar-ul-Banet in Darhal in national polio vaccination \u00a0campaign.<\/p>\n
While speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mahmood Hussain Bajjar, Block Medical Officer Darhal appreciated Rotary International for its global \u201cEnd Polio Now\u201d campaign in general \u00a0and the \u00a0exemplary role of Rotary club of Darhal in particular for bringing Madrassa children \u00a0forward to join the fight. He lauded the role of Club to involve the Madrassa students for the second time in past two years, and perhaps first time in the history of Rotary to engage female students of a Islamic School in such philanthropic service.<\/p>\n
Tariq Aziz Khan, Tehsildar Darhal, who was chief guest on the occasion, said it is great beginning to involve Madrassa students especially females to shoulder the humane cause. They can be an asset in nation building provided they are involved in developmental programmes more frequently and with good sense of understanding, he said.<\/p>\n
President of club, Rtn. Rashid Qamar said that idea of engaging a group of Madrassa students was not only to fight polio by involvement of local communities but also eradicate many confusions and stereotypes at various ends, and contribute in world peace and understanding.<\/p>\n
Rtn. Bashir Malik, Secretary of Club underlined the need of mainstreaming Madrassas by scientific knowledge especially computer education, introducing schemes like NSS in Madrassas and generating more employment opportunities for Madrassa graduates.<\/p>\n
Besides large number of locals, community representative, Health officials, prominent present on the occasion were Naib Imam of Jama Masjid Rtn.\u00a0 Mohd Mustasin,\u00a0 President Elect Dr. Mohd Sajar, Secretary Elect\u00a0 Rtn. Zaheer Mir and Asif Mir.<\/p>\n
