It was just a few days back, which seems it was only yesterday, that I had a long deliberation with him on his life and times, his vision, mission and the future of the nonkilling movement.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_265674\" style=\"width: 210px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Chaiwat-Satha-Anand.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-265674\" class=\"size-full wp-image-265674\" src=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Chaiwat-Satha-Anand.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-265674\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr. Chaiwat Satha-Anand<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Dr. Chaiwat Satha-Anand\u00a0was vice chair of the Centre for Global Nonkilling, a professor of political science at Thammasat University, Bangkok, founder and director of the Thai Peace Information Centre, and chairperson of the Strategic Nonviolence Commission in Thailand.<\/p>\n<p>His publications include <em>The Promise of Reconciliation? Examining Violent and Nonviolent Effects on Asian Conflicts, <\/em>(Transaction Publishers, 2016), <em>Nonkilling Security and the State<\/em> (Center for Global Nonkilling, 2013), <em>Protecting the Sacred, Creating Peace in Asia-Pacific<\/em>, (Transaction Publishers, 2013).\u00a0See his full bio: <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/toda.org\/experts\/chaiwat-satha-anand.html\" >https:\/\/toda.org\/experts\/chaiwat-satha-anand.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I fondly recall his constructive critique on the launch of the <em>Global Nonkilling Index<\/em> as also his glowing reactions on my keynote at Kolkata University on <em>Human Evolution to Human Revolution: the Emerging Nonkilling Paradigm<\/em> whence I tried to cover a few scientific aspects of human consciousness that makes\u00a0<em>Nonkilling<\/em>\u00a0imperative for the future of human civilization.<\/p>\n<p>I had complimented\u00a0Chaiwat\u00a0for having taken up the challenge of &#8221;<em>Nonkilling Asia&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0and for his efforts at the APPRA, particularly the Conference at USM in Penang and at our GC Meetings in Hawaii.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow [28 Jun] we commemorate the &#8221;International Nonkilling Day&#8221; on the 95th birth anniversary of late Prof Glenn D Paige.
