Some of these are:

Having fun, Enjoying a hearty laughter, Becoming sad, Feeling lonely and Despondent, Looking for friendship, Enjoyment with colleagues and Jumping around. Jumping like a ten year old child without a worry. Finding other companionship and security and kindness and pleasure, and thinking ‘Why is life not always like this?’

Then a heavy downpour of rain starts — all plans of moving to a rain proof region become meaningless. There is rain everywhere.

We mentally say ‘Rain rain go away, come again another day

How will be able to get some evening food for kids and self become an important issue?

Rain has no concern about dinner or a dry place for slumber.

We then realise the abysmal condition of hundreds of people who do not have a dry place for food, for rest. We keep on thinking — how we will overcome the fury of the rain that shows no sign of stopping or even reducing.

Everyone is affected by the fury of the rain — young and old, rich or poor, man or woman. We become religious and remember God — Krishan or Ram or any spiritual Guru in this hour of distress.

We may realise that perhaps Krishan in whom we have utmost belief and respect will listen to us and to the countless other affected people and help all of us to stay secure and safe. Even those people who are not God loving or God fearing will turn to God to show benevolence and kindness in this hour of distress and help people to remain stable and secure.

These are common thoughts of many people to reduce fear and despair. Even those people who are not usually God fearing will turn towards the skies and hope for kindness and security.

How will God show compassion and kindness? Not to worry. God is kind, God is helpful, God is liberal for you and for me!

______________________________________________

Dr Ravi P Bhatia is a member of the TRANSCEND Network for Peace Development Environment, an educationist, Gandhian scholar and peace researcher.
