4 Nov 2024 <\/em>– Segregation isn\u2019t some dusty relic from the museum of US history. It\u2019s alive in ways that people don\u2019t want to admit, barely sixty years buried, and yet very much alive in our political bloodstream. Anyone old enough to have thrown a tantrum about school desegregation, or to have picketed the Civil Rights Act, is not only still alive but still voting. They\u2019re not fossils; they\u2019re active participants, their beliefs barely budged since the Civil Rights Movement. These are the folks who don\u2019t just resist change\u2014they show up at the polls to fight it, making sure their views live on in today\u2019s voting laws, school funding, criminal justice policies, and more.<\/p>\n

People wonder why race is still America\u2019s open wound\u2014here\u2019s why. Legal change is fast, social change is slow, and this generation clinging to old beliefs holds the electoral power to keep us stuck, dragging the past right into the present.<\/p>\n
