16 Jan 2025 <\/em>– On 23 Dec 2024, Israel\u2019s Haaretz <\/em>published an extraordinary investigation<\/a><\/strong> into the \u201cimpact\u201d of Zionist Occupation Force \u201cbrutality\u201d on the \u201cmental health\u201d of its own militants. Specifically, \u201cmoral injury\u201d incurred by Tel Aviv\u2019s soldiers while perpetrating unabashed genocide<\/a><\/strong> in Gaza. While at significant pains throughout to paint Israelis as the ultimate victims of the 21st century Holocaust they are committing, the outlet\u2019s little-noticed reporting offered extensive, unprecedented insight into routine horrors casually meted out to Palestinians by the entity, before and after October 7th 2023.<\/p>\n

The article\u2019s author, along with a ZOF \u201csocial welfare officer\u201d, decades prior conducted academic research<\/a><\/strong> into why Tel Aviv\u2019s soldiers regularly commit the most sadistic atrocities imaginable against innocent Palestinians. This followed the First Intifada<\/a><\/strong>, 1987 – 1993, during which the entity brutally cracked down upon righteous Palestinian resistance to Israel\u2019s illegal, immoral occupation of their historic lands. The pair\u2019s joint research effort provided a rich yield of first\u2013hand evidence of Zionist cruelty, as ZOF soldiers candidly \u201copened up\u201d to them.<\/p>\n

The pair identified separate \u201cgroups\u201d of ZOF soldiers, \u201cbased on personality traits\u201d. First and foremost was a \u201cruthless and callous\u201d faction, who \u201ccommitted the most severe atrocities\u201d and \u201cviewed brutality as an expression of strength and masculinity.\u201d The \u201cpower\u201d they felt serving in Israel\u2019s genocidal military was \u201cintoxicating\u201d. One boastfully described how he had \u201cno problem\u201d brutalising and murdering women, citing how he\u2019d kicked a Palestinian female so hard bones in her groin \u201cbroke\u201d, and \u201cshe can’t have children today\u201d:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s like a drug\u2026you feel like you are the law, you make the rules. As if from the moment you leave the place called Israel and enter the Gaza Strip, you are God.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Meanwhile, another ZOF militant \u201cshot an Arab four times in the back\u201d from a distance of just 10 metres, \u201cand got away with a self-defense claim.\u201d This was, the killer admitted, \u201ccold-blooded murder\u201d – and \u201cwe did things like that every day.\u201d Another recalled how a young Palestinian was walking down a street calmly, minding their own business, when Zionist forces opened fire. \u201cBang, a bullet in the stomach,\u201d and he was \u201cdying on the sidewalk\u201d. Israeli operatives then \u201cdrove away indifferently\u201d to their victim.<\/p>\n

\u2018Flattening Gaza\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

Per Haaretz<\/em>, \u201cthese soldiers were remorseless and did not report moral injury.\u201d Nonetheless, a few of the genocidal war criminals involved were \u201cconvicted by military courts\u201d for their horrendous actions, which left them feeling \u201cbitter and betrayed.\u201d Those murderers who got away with it unpunished were tacitly assisted by \u201ca small, ideologically violent group [that] supported the brutality.\u201d Despite not \u201ctaking part\u201d in the killings directly, \u201cthey believed in Jewish supremacy and were derogatory toward Arabs,\u201d so determinedly turned a blind eye.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a \u201clarge group\u201d of ZOF soldiers \u201cwith no prior inclination to violence\u201d became callous and inhumane due to the influence of their superiors, and the \u201cnorms\u201d of their unit. \u201cI felt like\u2026a Nazi\u2026it looked exactly like we were actually the Nazis and they were the Jews,\u201d one member of this contingent testified. Another bore witness to how a \u201cnew commander\u201d, during their \u201cfirst patrol\u201d together in the early hours of the morning, hideously mutilated a defenceless Palestinian child:<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s not a soul in the streets, just a little four-year-old boy playing in the sand in his yard. The commander suddenly starts running, grabs the boy, and breaks his arm at the elbow and his leg\u2026Stepped on his stomach three times and left. We all stood there with our mouths open\u2026He told me, \u2018these kids need to be killed from the day they are born.\u2019 When a commander does that, it becomes legit.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Still, there were some ZOF conscripts who \u201copposed the influence of callous and ideological groups\u201d on the \u201cculture\u201d of the Zionist entity\u2019s military, who bravely \u201ctook a moral stand and went on to report the atrocities\u201d they\u2019d witnessed, if not participated in directly. Despite being \u201cinitially intimidated by brutal commanders,\u201d they blew the whistle. Their reward was to be \u201cseverely harassed and ostracized\u201d by Zionist entity authorities. One truth-teller was permanently discharged for their disclosures. \u201cTraumatized\u201d and \u201cdepressed\u201d, they subsequently fled Israel.<\/p>\n

Another whistleblower, who dared make clear his personal opposition to official orders that amounted to \u201cflattening Gaza\u201d, and necessitated \u201ccrimes against humanity\u201d, suffered \u201csevere social ostracism\u201d for his refusal to comply, and willingness to publicise the frightful objectives with which he was tasked. He was resultantly bullied and pressured out of his unit, and returned back to civilian life \u201cmentally crushed\u201d. Such ill-treatment is only to be expected, given the ZOF\u2019s wider institutional culture, and the innately genocidal nature of the putrid ideology of Zionism.<\/p>\n
