sometimes, one\u2019s inverted,<br \/>\nthe other looking not-quite out).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">In bistros, for a song (or less),<br \/>\nhe sells his eyes,<br \/>\nknows he\u2019s dying (from an early age),<br \/>\nbut will not, cannot<br \/>\nbow\u2014convention damn him!\u2014<br \/>\nto any god except his own<br \/>\nidiosyncratic self!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">2.<br \/>\nHis first love, sculpture,<br \/>\ndid him in\u2014dust,<br \/>\ndamn dust, filling his lungs!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">So\u2026 now he models in oil&#8211;<br \/>\nburly, feminine hermaphrodites,<br \/>\ncapturing, perhaps, his own hybridicness&#8211;<br \/>\nSephardic-Jewish, Tuscan-bred,<br \/>\nwith hooded eyes women adore,<br \/>\nwhom he loves in kind,<br \/>\npainting them with swan-like necks,<br \/>\nor bulging like amphoras on couches;<br \/>\narched bodies\u2014nude,<br \/>\nexcept for what he hides in eyes\u2026.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">(The background\u2019s paneled, dark;<br \/>\nThe women curve out of the frame:<br \/>\nneck, hips, buttocks, breasts,<br \/>\nS-curving into music.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">In the last two years of thirty-five,<br \/>\nhis backgrounds flare\u2014 suffused, light-held.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Happier with his new mistress now,<br \/>\nhe has absorbed<br \/>\nImpressionistic fire-licks\u2014<br \/>\ntranslucent color, and a sense<br \/>\nof his own imminent<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">demise<br \/>\n(which, he imagines,<br \/>\nhe\u2019ll transcend\u2026.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">3.<br \/>\nWith a little money<br \/>\nhe would have married that woman<br \/>\nwho bore him a son\u2026<br \/>\nand killed herself<br \/>\nafter he died\u2014<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">the day after, in fact,<br \/>\nthough she was pregnant<br serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><i>-Atlanta and in universities, high schools and Little Theaters.\u00a0 He has published 2 novels, 1 full collection and 1 prize-winning chapbook of poems.\u00a0 His poems, articles, fiction and dramas have appeared in hundreds of global publications &amp; websites, including:\u00a0 <\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Segoe UI, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Countercurrents, Village Voice, Redbook Magazine, The Miami Herald, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The New York Times,\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Segoe UI, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><i>and\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a
