1 Sep 2025\u00a0<\/em>– The SCO Tianjin Summit 2025 is the 25th Heads of State Council meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, held from 31 Aug to 1 Sep in Tianjin, China. It is the fifth time that China hosts the annual SCO summit and the largest in SCO\u2019s history. The Summit themes were respect of civilization diversity and pursuit of common development.<\/p>\n

Development of the association<\/strong><\/p>\n

The SCO member countries have decided to establish an SCO Development Bank.<\/p>\n

They also decided to merge the statuses of \u201cobserver\u201d and \u201cdialogue partner.\u201d<\/p>\n

The countries will strengthen cooperation on sustainable development issues, \u201cincluding in the field of industry, efficient waste management and resource use in accordance with the principles of environmental protection, energy conservation and clean energy development, with a view to ensuring the SCO\u2019s contribution to promoting sustainable socio-economic development. Theme of the summit respect of the diversity of civilisations and pur<\/p>\n

The SCO countries have declared their intention to develop partnerships in agriculture and e-commerce, and have agreed to jointly develop tourism and medicine.<\/p>\n

Participants in the association have expressed their readiness to collaborate in preventing security risks associated with artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n

The SCO countries agreed to \u201cstrengthen scientific and technical achievements and innovations.\u201d<\/p>\n

The SCO welcomes the development of customs partnerships, including digitalization, as well as \u201csingle window\u201d and \u201csmart customs\u201d mechanisms.<\/p>\n

The SCO countries advocated further development of cooperation in the transport sector on a fair and balanced basis, emphasizing \u201cthe importance of creating new and modernizing existing international transport routes, including promoting the activities of the North-South and East-West corridors.<\/p>\n

Military cooperation<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The SCO countries advocate strict compliance with the NPT Treaty provisions.<\/p>\n

The participants of the association called for \u201cfull compliance with the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on Their Destruction (CWC) as an important instrument in the field of disarmament and non-proliferation.\u201d<\/p>\n

The SCO countries also expressed their willingness to cooperate in the military sphere.<\/p>\n

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, emphasizing the importance of not applying double standards in the fight against it.<\/p>\n

Need for UN reform<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The SCO countries believe that the UN must be reformed to adapt \u201cto modern political and economic realities.\u201d<\/p>\n

The leaders welcomed the annual UN General Assembly resolution on combating the glorification of Nazism.<\/p>\n

The organization intends to continue high-level dialogue with the UN, other international organizations, and interested states.<\/p>\n

Combating drug trafficking<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The SCO countries advocated for \u201cfurther deepening practical cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking, including the suppression of crimes involving the use of information and communication technologies and the spread of new psychoactive substances.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sports<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The association\u2019s participants called for sports competitions to be held on a non-discriminatory basis, and for participation in them to be unrestricted.<\/p>\n
